Round 6 is a great time to look at the top tables and see what’s being played! The closer a Duelist gets to Table 1, the better their record in the tournament, so a quick look at the top 15 tables can give us a good idea of what’s most successful in today’s competition. Here’s what the top tables look like! Read more…

Hey, I found Ryan Newburn! After an unceremonious 0-2 drop from the main event, and surrendering to the bounty hunters after his hide, he went to go play in ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! Hours later, he emerged victorious and claimed a Giant Card of his very own! Which one did he pick? I’ll give you one guess…

Chris Bowling won SHONEN JUMP Championship Austin with the Deck known as Twilight – a powerful Deck combining DARK monsters and Lightsworn. Now with the release of “Archlord Kristya” in Stardust Overdrive, a new kind of Lightsworn Deck is possible. And this one has the potential to be faster, more aggressive, and capable of shutting down Special Summoning entirely. “Wulf, Lightsworn Beast” is out, and “Archlord Kristya” and “Shire, Lightsworn Spirit” are in, in this breakneck-paced Lightsworn build piloted by Chris Miller. Hidden Arsenal has brought tons of playable new cards to competitive and casual Duelists alike, many of which are seeing play today. Taking a look around the tournament floor, six cards stand out for their popularity. Let’s start with the obvious! Read more…
Flamvells were introduced with “Flamvell Commando” in the Ancient Prophecy booster set. With the new release of Hidden Arsenal came a bunch of new Flamvell monsters. Conrad Selig is using one of them here today. “Flamvell Magician” is a Level 4 Tuner with 200 DEF. Since “Rekindling” from Ancient Prophecy Special Summons all FIRE monsters with 200 DEF from the Graveyard, Selig is using these two cards together in his Flamvell Lightsworn Deck. The main point of the Deck is to send cards from the Deck to the Graveyard using “Charge of the Light Brigade,” “Solar Recharge,” and the effects of the Lightsworn monsters. Then, when there are enough Flamvell monsters in his Graveyard, Selig can activate “Rekindling” to swarm the field and finish off his opponent. Read more…
Last round we showed you Herman Herrera’s Fortune Lady “Dark Simorgh” Deck chalking up a win, but Herrera isn’t the only Duelist packing Fortune Ladies here today! Cody Miller is playing a dedicated Fortune Lady Deck with “Future Visions” and all the trimmings, and this round he’ll Duel Tom Curry.
Curry is playing Destiny Hero Zombies, complete with “Shutendoji” from Stardust Overdrive. If everything goes to plan, Curry’s flurry of Special Summons may help him work around “Future Visions,” but this is an all-new match-up we’ve never seen before, so it’s anybody’s game. Read more…
We’ve seen a lot of Decks here today featuring new themes from Stardust Overdrive, but Herman Herrera may be the only Duelist in the building running two of those new themes at the same time! The power of “Dark Simorgh” is well understood by most, but add a dash of Fortune Ladies and you’ve got a surprisingly fast, deadly Deck that nobody could have seen coming! Here’s what Herrera’s Deck looks like… Read more…
We’ve got some interesting side events going on at the other side of the hall. Win-A-Mat tournaments featuring the Jack Atlas & “Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode” Game Mat are running all day, and we’ve also got my personal favorite: ATTACK… OF THE GIANT CARD!!! Announcing that event never gets old. We’ve got three new Giant Cards to give out this weekend that players have been ogling since pre-registration yesterday. Take a look!
