Julian Wong came here from Vancouver. He’s running a Zombies/Lightsworn Deck that he’s been using at his local game store, Connection Games. Soo Yeem came here from San Diego and is one of the top Gladiator Beast Duelists left in the tournament. Both Duelists in this round are 9-1, so a win here would secure one of these Duelists a spot in the Top 16. Read more…
Both of these Duelists had 8-2 records heading into this, the final Swiss Round before the cut to Top 16, which meant it was up in the air whether either of them could make the playoffs. Hopes were running high, and both competitors were clearly about to give this Match their all! Read more…
A lot of competitors are taking inspiration this weekend from Vincent Ralambomiadana’s “French Twilight,” the Deck that won SHONEN JUMP Championship Columbus. Josh Coleman is one of them, but he’s putting a ton of new spins on the theme, adding cards like “Caius the Shadow Monarch,” “Pot of Avarice,” and a card so startling I took it upon myself to name the Deck after it. The name? “Treacherous Twilight.” The card? “Treacherous Trap Hole”! It makes perfect sense in a Deck too packed with Spells and monsters to run any other Traps.
His opponent is Calvin Yu. Hailing from Oakland, California, Yu is running Zombies with “Tragoedia” and “Krebons.” He’s packing some uncommon choices himself, including “Return from the Different Dimension” – a card that’s seen little play this weekend. Read more…
Alex Hin is 13 years old and came here from Sacramento, California. Anthony Alvarado traveled here from New Jersey on vacation. He’s been playing the game since 2004. Both players are 8-1 and a win in this round can put either one of them in a great position for making Top 16. Read more…
Yassine Ali came here from Montreal and is running a Twilight Deck with “Tragoedia” in it in today’s tournament. Kris Ferber is the current U.S. National Champion and traveled here from Albany, New York with his Lightsworn Deck. This is sure to be a great Match. Read more…
Theodore Stamelatos is one of the Duelists who traveled all the way from Greece to compete here this weekend! Stamelatos is playing a version of Lightsworn Zombies with no “Judgment Dragons,” an omission that’s been throwing a lot of opponents off their game.
His opponent is California’s own Hunter Morgan, a Duelist playing a more conventional Zombie build. Both competitors are undefeated in this tournament and sitting at Table 1, but only 1 competitor could keep his pristine record after this Match! Read more…
If this were any other SHONEN JUMP Championship, this would be the last round of Swiss Rounds – however, since this is an 11 round event we’ll still have one round left after this before heading to the final cut.
Let’s see who’s holding out at the top! Read more…
