Round 11 Feature Match: Nik Ristoski vs. Luis Zambrana

With just 2 Rounds left in this tournament, the number of each Deck archetype in contention for Day 2 is narrowing. Nik Ristoski is one of the Blackwing Duelists still in the running, currently 8-2 with a teched out version packing Dark Eruption.

His opponent is Luis Zambrana, running an Elemental Hero Absolute Zero Deck. Zambrana is also 8-2, so whomever wins this Duel will have a chance to lock their seat in the Top 32 by winning their next Match in Round 12. Deck Profile: Tyler Nolan’s Black Garden Deck

If you’ve been with us all weekend, then you probably remember Tyler Nolan from his Round 3 Feature Match win in yesterday’s coverage. Nolan is playing an insightful and finely-tuned Black Garden Deck this weekend, halving his opponent’s ATK and then following up by walling up with high-DEF monsters like Gravekeeper’s Spy, Don Zaloog, and Volcanic Rocket. He uses the Garden’s ATK-halving effect and its Token Summoning effect to slow the pace of play to a crawl, then grinds down his opponent’s cards with Zaloog and Blaze Accelerator. Once his opponent can’t fight back, a series of small attacks ends the Duel. Read more…
