Jeff Jones was the only player to defeat Billy Brake in the Swiss Rounds of this tournament. And in pre-tournament testing on Friday, Jones’ Quickdraw Dandywarrior beat Brake in 8 games out of 11. Brake had commented earlier in the tournament that the only Deck he couldn’t beat was Jones’s. “Normally when you go 14-1 in a JUMP you win!” laughed Brake. In this Semi-Final Match, Patrick Hoban is playing a pure Lightsworn build, while Satoshi Kato is running a Zombie Lightsworn variant with “Phantom of Chaos” and “Sky Scourge Norleras,” instead of “Judgment Dragon.” We saw Kato overpower more traditional Decks several times this weekend. Roy St. Clair made it to the Top 4 of this SHONEN JUMP Championship with his innovative X-Saber Deck – an accomplishment that hadn’t been achieved before the release of Absolute Powerforce.
