Semi-Finals Feature Match: Renaldo Lainez vs. Sorosh Saberian

Semi-Finals Feature Match: Billy Brake vs. Jeff Jones

Jeff Jones was the only player to defeat Billy Brake in the Swiss Rounds of this tournament. And in pre-tournament testing on Friday, Jones’ Quickdraw Dandywarrior beat Brake in 8 games out of 11. Brake had commented earlier in the tournament that the only Deck he couldn’t beat was Jones’s. “Normally when you go 14-1 in a JUMP you win!” laughed Brake. Jeff Jones is a SHONEN JUMP Champion with 5 Day 2 appearances. Brake has made it to Day 2 5 times as well, but has never made it past the Top 8 until today. Read more…

We’ve seen plenty of Quickdraw Dandywarrior Decks in action this weekend, but this is the first time we’ve seen a Quickdraw mirror Match! Three of the Top 8 Duelists left in this tournament are playing Quickdraw, far and away the most successful Deck today. Top 16 Feature Match: Thai Bui vs. Jake Mattern

You may remember Jake Mattern from his Day 1 Deck Profile. He’s running a Prisma Gladiator Deck that easily Summons Gladiator Beast Gyzarus to destroy his opponent’s cards and take control of the Duel. Now, he made it to the Top 16 and is Dueling Thai Bui, a Lightsworn Duelist determined to bring his Lightsworn Deck to the Top 8. But only one of these Duelists can win the prized Dark End Dragon awarded to the Top 8 competitors of this event. Read more…

Deck Profile: Money Smith’s Six Samurai

Money Smith piloted his Six Samurai Deck to a better finish than any other Samurai Duelists in the tournament. His strategy? Swarm the field with Samurais and protect his aggression with his 3 Main Deck copies of Starlight Road. Smith made some Deck choices that were previously unheard of in Six Samurai Decks, like the exclusion of Great Shogun Shien from his Deck, but given his finishing 9-3 record in the tournament, these Deck choices may become integrated into basic Six Samurai strategy.
