Congratulations to the Summer 2015 Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational Winner, Peter Cheng!
Welcome to the Finals! Local Duelist Sean McCabe and New Jersey’s Peter Cheng are about to compete in a Match that will determine who is the Ultimate Duelist! Everything is on the line in this one Match, as Sean McCabe pilots his Seraph Shaddoll Deck against Peter Cheng’s Satellarknights. The Championship Belt, the paid trip to next season’s UDS Invitational, the title of “Ultimate Duelist,” and more are all on the line! It’s time to Duel!
New Jersey’s Jarrid Centamore and Philadelphia local Sean McCabe have made it to the Top 4! But only one of them will advance to the Finals and have the opportunity to become the Ultimate Duelist. Will it be Centamore with his Burning Abyss Deck, or McCabe with his Seraph Shaddoll? We’re about to find out, because it’s time to Duel!
Pennsylvania’s Spencer Culwell is Dueling against New Jersey’s Ned Salkovitch in a Top 8 Feature Match that will determine which Duelist advances to the Top 4! Culwell is one of 2 Kozmo Duelists in the Top 8, taking advantage of the new cards in Clash of Rebellions to catch opponents off guard with his new strategy. Salkovitch, on the other hand, is using the tried-and-true Nekroz Deck that we saw him using in earlier Feature Matches. The stakes are high, as the Duelist who is defeated in this Match will be eliminated from the tournament and will be out of contention for the title of “Ultimate Duelist.” It’s time to Duel!
Check out the Top 8 Duelists and Decks at this weekend’s UDS Invitational at the end of the Swiss Rounds!
Jonathon Nagel from Colorado is currently 7-1-1 with his Burning Abyss Deck, and is presently the highest ranked Duelist in the tournament. Jarred Randolph from Delaware is 6-2-1 with his Nekroz Deck. This is the last round of the tournament before a cut to the Top 8. Although Nagel is virtually guaranteed to make it to the Top 8 regardless of the outcome of this Match, Randolph is likely facing elimination if Nagel defeats him here. That means Randolph will be giving this Match his all! It’s time to Duel!
Local Philadelphia Duelist Frazier Smith is Dueling against New Jersey’s Ned Salkovitch in our Round 9 Feature Match! Smith and Salkovitch both currently hold 5-2-1 records, leaving them in contention for a Top 8 finish for as long as they continue winning their Matches. But the dream will end for one of them, as only one of these two Duelists can gain the win needed for a Top 8 finish. It’s time to Duel!
Larry Merritt and Jeffrey Strain were in 17th place and 15th place respectively at the end of Day 1, so they’ll need some good luck and great tiebreakers to make it to the Top 8. But the journey to become the Ultimate Duelist will end for one of them right here, as they face off against one another in this Round 8 Feature Match! Each Duelist needs a victory here in order to remain in contention for the Top 8, but only one of these Duelists can get that victory. Merritt is using a Shaddoll Deck that features Performage Trick Clown, Performage Damage Juggler, and Performage Hat Tricker from Clash of Rebellions. Strain is using a Nekroz Deck adjusted for the new Advanced Format Forbidden & Limited List. It’s time to Duel!
QQ stands for Quick Questions! Duelists were required to have at least 100 UDS points in order to participate in this weekend’s Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational. I surveyed the Duelists in attendance to see how they got the points they needed to qualify for this weekend’s tournament. Check out their responses!
