In the final round of Swiss, we’re featuring Chicago Duelist Jose Uriel Diaz, and today is his birthday! He’s using a 50 card Kozmo Deck with Pot of Desires. His opponent is Stephen Honda from Kalamazoo, MI. Honda is also using Kozmos, and these two are among the few Kozmo Duelists left in the tournament.
Welcome to Day 2 of the Summer 2016 UDS Invitational! The 32 best Duelists from yesterday have advanced to play four more rounds of Swiss before cutting to the Top 8. This Match pairs up two friends from New Jersey, Aaron Furman and Matthew Cairoli. Cairoli is packing the Magician Pendulum Deck, something we’ve seen quite a bit over the last year. Furman is also using a Pendulum Deck, but he’s using the new Metalfoes! Will the cool new Metalfoes take it, or will the Magicians show why they’ve been a top Deck for so long?
It’s the final round of Day 1, here at the Summer 2016 UDS Invitational! This round pits two veteran Duelists against each other! We’ve got Jonathon Nagel packing a Speedroid Phantom Knight Deck, up against Jeff Jones wielding the power of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!
Alex Vansant is here from the Detroit area, and he’s brought something he calls “52 Card Blackwing Burning Abyss Phantom Knight Speedroids.” It’s a huge Deck, filled with a variety of strategies that all mix well together. The 52 cards is so he can comfortably use three copies of Pot of Desires. His opponent is a Chicago Duelist, Edd Punzalan, who is using Metalfoes. Metalfoes are the new Pendulum cards from The Dark Illusion, and he’s put them together with some of the best older Pendulums like Majespecters.
For Round 2, we’re featuring Judge and sometimes writer – Joe Frankino! Hailing from Long Island, NY, he’s a familiar face at almost any premier event, having even served as Head Judge for a YCS. This time, he’s decided to cash in all his UDS Points and play! He’s already got two UDS medals from previous events, so he definitely has experience here. He’s taking his Blue-Eyes Deck against Brandon Oldham, from Kennett, MO. Oldham’s using a Monarch Deck today. Due to the newest Forbidden & Limited List, Monarch Duelists have had to get creative with their Decks, and Oldham is now using a rather different build than what we’re used to seeing from Monarchs this year.
