Jack Hoyt and Alex Vansant last faced off in the Points Playoff Finals in San Jose. It was a close Match that eventually ended in a victory for Vansant in overtime. But Jack Hoyt is bringing his X-Saber Deck back for revenge, this time against Vansant’s Warrior Toolbox Deck. The winner here will receive a Super Rare set of Darklord Prize Cards.

When Rescue Cat was Forbidden on September 1st, many Duelists were skeptical about how well X-Sabers would do in the new format. But over a month has passed since the new Forbidden & Limited List took effect, and X-Sabers are still getting to the top of tournament scene. Sean McCabe earned a 3rd place finish with his X-Saber Deck and took home a Set of Darklord Prize Cards this weekend. Here’s the Deck he did it with:

Pongyue Moua piloted his Flamvell Deck to a Top 32 finish this weekend, using 5 different Flamvells in his Main Deck, including Flamvell Baby and Flamvell Grunika. Moua’s Deck can build up a huge Graveyard and then makes a game-winning play with Rekindling, or just use his big monsters like Flamvell Firedog to gradually chip away at his opponent’s Life Points and build up a field. The versatility of Moua’s Deck made it tough for a lot of his opponents to beat this weekend. Take a look at Moua’s Decklist!

At every YCS, 4 Duelists are chosen by raffle out of all the Duelists who played in Public Events for a chance to win a Super Rare set of the Darklord Prize Cards. To claim them, they must win a 4-player single elimination tournament. In the finals, Zach Olmer was playing Dragons, while Rick Gratton was playing Quickdraw: the winner of this Match would walk away from this table with a set of the Darklord Prize Cards. Neither Duelist was wasting time, and the Match started immediately!

Once again, the young Jack Hoyt has made it to the finals of the Dragon Duels. He won yesterday’s to pick up his 11th win, and will be facing Ivan Lozada in the finals of this one to try and make it 12. Here are all 4 finalists from today’s event! Each of them got a cool T-Shirt, a game mat, and an invite to the WCQ and Dragon Duel Championship.
It’s been a wild ride this weekend with everything from Scraps and Naturia monster to Big Piece Golem and Darklord Desire seeing success today. In the end, the Top 4 Duelists were divided: 2 chose X-Sabers and 2 others used Decks powered by Plant monsters and Debris Dragons. While Kenny Kwan went with the traditional Quickdraw Dandywarrior build that’s won in the past Nguyen went without Quickdraw Synchron and will be going home with some fantastic prizes and the knowledge that he outlasted 930 other Duelists to become the winner of YCS Philadelphia!
