Round 8 Feature Match: Marshaun Young vs. Christopher Evans

Marshaun Young is currently 6-1 with the Fairy Chaos Deck we profiled at the start of the tournament. His opponent, Christopher Evans, has a 6-1 record with Infernities. Young’s 3 copies of Royal Decree may make this a tough matchup for Evans, but if Evans can draw the right cards early on, he may be able to defeat Young before he gets his Deck up-and-running. A victory here will put one of these Duelists into a great position to make the Top 32 after the 2 rounds of swiss tomorrow morning.

Deck Profile: Marshaun Young’s Chaos Fairy Deck

Marshaun Young’s Chaos Fairy Deck Summons big monsters that are tough for opponents to take down, including the brand new Darklord Desire. His Deck is packed with boss monsters that he protects with cards like My Body as a Shield, Effect Veiler, and Royal Decree. Unlike Christopher Krause’s unpredictable toolbox approach, Young’s Deck is more focused on pure power.

Deck Profile: Christopher Krause’s Fairy Circle

Fairies have been gaining popularity since September 1st, as Counter Fairies continue to be innovated in a number of different directions after seeing some success at YCS Toronto.  Today, previous YCS Indianapolis Top 8 competitor Christopher Krause is trying his hand at a Fairy Deck, but he’s not playing Counter Fairies; instead, Krause is running a Deck he calls “Fairy Circle.”  With a deep lineup of LIGHT Fairy-Types, Krause runs Gold Sarcophagus and Soul of Purity and Light to remove them from play which then let him add them to his hand with the Fairy-Type Dimensional Alchemist.  That lets him search out, use, and reuse powerful monsters like Archlord Kristya, Thunder King Rai-Oh, and Honest, as well as letting him fetch more surprising choices like Gellenduo and Herald of Orange Light.
