This Weekend’s Dragon Duel Winners

Here’s a look at this weekend’s top Dragon Duel competitors. Each of the top 4 players on Saturday and Sunday get Regional Game Mats and other cool prizes.

If you’re age 12 or under and love Dueling, you can find a Dragon Duel at any Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event. They’re sometimes held at Regional Qualifiers, too. Or you can ask your local Official Tournament Store about running the Duelist League.

Feature Match: Sunday’s Dragon Duel Finals – Jackson Baum vs. Josh Dal Porto

Jackson Baum is 12 years old and from Nashville, Tennessee. Tomorrow, he’ll be 13, and ineligible to become a Dragon Duel Champion, so today is his last shot at a title. But Josh Dal Porto, a 10-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, is looking to prevent that from happening, by getting a title of his own. Baum is using X-Sabers and Dal Porto is playing Plant Synchro, so this is sure to be an interesting Match! Read more…

Final Round Feature Match: Sean McCabe vs. Frazier Smith

Two teammates and friends with the exact same Decks were now Dueling for the title of Champion. We already knew the winning Deck. Now, we just needed a winning Duelist.

“Could you imagine this would be us?” asked McCabe, shuffling his Deck.

Smith laughed: “Same Deck, same Extra Deck, same Side Deck?” McCabe grinned, as Smith gave a bit of explanation: “We were talking online for 2 weeks making this Deck. We’re staying in the same hotel room. Last night he was like ‘you know, we could play eacother tomorrow. You want to practice the mirror Match?’ And I was like, ‘No way! 3rd Place Feature Match: Ronald Mack vs. Brandon Wigley

Ronald Mack and Brandon Wigley both lost their Top 4 Matches, and were now facing off for 3rd place in a battle between Gravekeeper’s and X-Sabers. The winner here would receive a Super Rare Set of Darklord Prize Cards, so both Duelists will be giving this Match their all! Read more…

Frazier Smith wins YCS Atlanta!

Frazier Smith has beaten out 869 other Duelists to win the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series main event in Atlanta, Georgia!

Smith defeated his friend and fellow Gravekeeper Duelist Sean McCabe in the Final Round of this event, going 2-1 against his opponent to take the title.

At the runner-up table, Gravekeeper Duelist Ronald Mack defeated X-Saber Duelist Brandon Wigley for 3rd place. Gravekeepers swept the top 3 spots in this event, taking home all 3 sets of YCS Prize Cards from the main event!

We’re here in Atlanta for the last YCS of 2010. But not all of today’s competitors are veteran tournament-goers who have been to a YCS before this one. Gravekeepers win YCS Atlanta!

We’re not sure who the winner is yet, but one thing is clear: a Gravekeeper Deck will win this event!

In the semi-finals, Gravekeeper Duelist Sean McCabe defeated fellow Gravekeeper Duelist Ronald Mack.

In the other semi-final Match, Gravekeeper Duelist Frazier Smith defeated X-Saber Duelist Brandon Wigley.

The Final Round will pit Sean McCabe against Frazier Smith in a Gravekeeper mirror match!

Top 4 Feature Match: Frazier Smith vs. Brandon Wigley

Brandon Wigley is the last X-Saber Duelist remaining in the tournament. His opponent, Frazier Smith, is a Gravekeeper Duelist who worked on his Deck with the two other Top 4 competitors. With 2 Gravekeeper’s Decks facing off at the other Top 4 table, a victory here for Smith would guarantee a YCS victory for Gravekeepers. Read more…
