Pegasus Challenge Prizes

One of the most popular public events this weekend is the Pegasus Challenge! Duelists competed in 8-man flights, and all entrants scored packs of the new Turbo Pack: Booster Five. The Top 4 finishers in each flight won even more Turbo Packs, and the top-ranked Duelist also received one of the new Pegasus Challenge Single Card Binders!

These binders are exclusive to Pegasus Challenge events, and you’ll start to see them at Official Tournament Stores hostings Pegasus Challenge within the next two weeks. For now, they’re a hot commodity here today, as Duelists compete in public events to take their shot at this new prize!

Top 32 Feature Match: Gary Garcia Maximus vs. Undead Andres Ochoa

After a poor showing for Gladiator Beast Decks in Charlotte, Gary Garcia has redeemed the Deck type with a Top 32 finish! His unique build running multiple copies of Gladiator Beast’s Respite and 2 copies of Gladiator Beast Murmillo has been throwing off opponents all weekend, and allowed him to secure this coveted Top 32 spot. His opponent, Andres Ochoa, made it here with his Zombie Deck. Zombie Decks typically have a tough time against Gladiator Beasts, since they Set so many monsters and are vulnerable to Gladiator Beast Retiari. This may give Gary Garcia the decisive advantage in this Match, but it isn’t an advantage that is impossible to overcome. Read more…

Top 32 Feature Match: Commander Billy Brake vs. High-Flyin’ Ramon Mera

Ramon Mera has done it again. His “Spirit Wings” Blackwing Deck has made the Top 32 back-to-back, 2 YCS tournaments in a row! Mera’s Blackwing strategy uses double Spirit Reapers to slow down the Duel and harass his opponent’s hand, giving him an edge against Decks like Samurai. But now he’s up against Day 2 veteran Billy Brake! This is Brake’s third Top 32 appearance in a row, and he’s once again made the cut with X-Sabers. Read more…

Round 11 Feature Match: Dragoon Alberto Gonzalez vs. Botanist Eric Granados

April 10th, 2011

Alberto Gonzalez and Eric Granados are both 8-2 in the tournament, and will need a victory in this round if they are to have any hope at making it into the Top 32. Gonzalez is running a Dragunity Deck that’s capable of Synchro Summoning a Level 8 monster every turn, and Granados is running a Doppelplant Deck that can swarm the field with Tokens and Synchro Monsters. Round 11 Feature Match: Animatronic Steven Lo vs. Gerardo “King of the Road” Lopez

With 8-2 records, both of these Duelists were just a single win away from capturing a spot in the Top 32! Steven Lo is playing Karakuri Machina Plants, while his opponent Gerardo Lopez is piloting Formula Monarchs.
