Round 9 Feature Match: Jordan Kehler VS Thomas Morran

September 18th, 2011

We’ve seen a ton of different strategies so far this weekend, but Thomas Morran is piloting a Deck we haven’t seen in Feature Match action yet: Destiny Hero Diva!  A new incarnation of the Diamond Dude Turbo strategy, this Deck aims to use Destiny HERO – Diamond Dude and Destiny HERO – Malicious in combination with Deep Sea Diva, unleashing big Synchro Monsters and Elemental HERO Absolute Zero.  Morran’s opponent is Jordan Kehler, one of several Tech Genus Agents Duelists still left in the tournament.  Kehler’s Deck is super-fast, and really good at managing the Graveyard.  It plays Kristya really easily, and that could be a huge factor against Morran’s Special Summons.

September 17th, 2011

Jason Larabee entered today’s YCS with a complex Infernity Deck that loops Summons with Leviair the Sea Dragon and is capable of Summoning Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier multiple times in a single turn. Larabee’s Round 5 opponent, Ryan Muttaqi, is using Gladiator Beasts. Gladiator Beasts typically give Infernity Decks a tough time, since Gladiator Beast Retiari has the ability to banish key combo cards from the Infernity Duelist’s Graveyard; but Larabee’s new Infernity tricks may be enough to help him triumph in this difficult Matchup. September 17th, 2011

James Wilcox and two of his friends all have 2-0 records here today, all playing one of the breakthrough Decks of the tournament: Wonder Wand Gravekeepers. This new spin on the tried and tested theme plays a lot like its predecessor, but now packs draw power and enough muscle to power over Stardust Dragon, all thanks to the Equip Spell Wonder Wand!

But Wilcox will have his work cut out for him! His opponent is Jamil Pirani, who’s here this weekend playing Frog Monarchs: the Deck Wilcox describes as his worst matchup. With Caius the Shadow Monarch to banish his key cards, and Light and Darkness Dragon to lock down his best effects, Wilcox may find himself the victim of a quick and methodical defeat. Read more…
