We’ve got two Duelists on the bubble for this Match – they need to win to stay in the tournament! First up is YCS Champion Michael Balan with Shaddolls, who made the trip from Las Vegas. His opponent is Kevin Alvarez, from Ontario, CA, using Satellarknights.
Sheabi Kheireddine is not only the only Duelist from North America to claim a World Championship title, but is the current World Champion. So with that said, it’s pretty obvious that Roberto Gomez isn’t going to have the easiest time winning this match. Both Duelists are playing Burning Abyss, and sitting at 7-1 they are already a lock for Day Two, but the loser will have to win both matches tomorrow to make Top 32.

With only eleven Duelists undefeated, four Burning Abyss and four Shaddolls remain among them. Andy Yu is one of the four playing Burning Abyss, and Destin Kaspi is one of the four battling with Shaddoll. Andy’s brother, YCS Las Vegas 2014 Champion Denny Yu, beat Destin out of Top 32 at YCS Dallas this past month, and now he’s looking for revenge!

Entering Round 7 we have two pretty neat Decks still undefeated. Charles Ramsey is playing Satellarknights with some cool stuff from The New Challengers such as Satellarknight Sirius, Satellarknight Procyon, Stellarknight Triverr, and Oasis of Dragon Souls. Steven Corwin is playing a 53 card Artifact Shaddoll with Kuribandit and Call of the Haunted.
Which Duelist will emerge unscathed?
Between rounds of YCS Anaheim , we scoured the floors for any first timers to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series and found a couple. We asked them some general questions about themselves, the game, the event, and gave them a chance to be a part of the coverage!
We’re headed into Round 7, and we have two more undefeated Duelists at the Feature Match table! Adam Salas is packing Shadolls today, the new cards from The New Challengers like El Shaddoll Fusion. He’s facing WCQ winner and World Championship competitor Jose Lagunes! Lagunes is using Burning Abyss, also featuring NECH cards like Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss. This should be a great Match featuring two of the biggest Decks of this weekend.
For Round 6, we’re featuring two of the Decks that got powered up by The New Challengers. It’s Kenneth Ramirez’s Satellarknights, up against the Burning Abyss piloted by Israel Estrada. Burning Abyss is definitely one of the most popular strategies this weekend, while Satellarknights are much less common. Will the popular Deck win, or can the underdog take it?
It’s Round 5, and we’re halfway through the first day. These Duelists are undefeated so far: We’ve got Tyler Sondhi using the new Qliphort monsters, up against Ching Chen with Burning Abyss. Chen’s using Creature Swap in his Deck, which lets him steal opposing monsters, give them a Burning Abyss monster, and watch as it destroys itself! This ought to be great match, and indicative many of the Duels going on today at YCS Anaheim.
It’s Round 3! We’re here with Shane Wilson and Isaac Rocha, two local area Duelists. Wilson is using a Noble Knight Deck, packing all of the new cards from the Noble Knights of the Round Table Box Set. He’s up against Rocha’s Harpie Deck, which has a strong matchup against Noble Knights thanks to Harpie’s Hunting Ground and Ice Beast Zerofyne. Wilson even asked, “Did you do this on purpose?!” when he found out what Rocha had! There was only one problem – Rocha had never Dueled against Noble Knights before, and didn’t know what any of the cards did! Will he be able to figure it out mid-match?
