Judges YCS Miami 2013
Thanks to all of our judges this weekend!
Billy Brake and Jeff Jones are two well-known Duelists that have been building a Deck together ever since Mermails were first released. Now, these two friends, running identical Mermail Main Decks (without Genex Undine), are Dueling against one another in a Feature Match that will determine which one of these Duelists advances to the Top 32, and which one will be eliminated.
QQ stands for Quick Questions! Everybody knows Yu-Gi-Oh! has a long history as an anime. Who’s your favorite character from Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal?
Desmond Johnson is from Atlanta, and traveled with a unique Karakuri Deck featuring Psychics, Instant Fusion, and Solar Wind Jammer! Jonathan Swartz is from Seratoga, FL, and is playing a Mermail Deck. For one of these Duelists, it’s the end of the road – they both need a win to guarantee a spot in the Top 32.
Willian Fernandes and Elijah Gersten are both Florida Duelists with 8-1 records in the tournament. While Gersten took the more conventional route to achieve this record, getting here with Wind-Ups, Fernandes obtained his 8-1 record by using a Prophecy Deck! A victory in this round will put one of these Duelists in great position for a Top 32 finish.
QQ stands for Quick Questions! Cosmo Blazer is brand new, and Duelists around the convention center are excited to be using the cards from Cosmo Blazer in a competitive tournament for the first time this weekend! I surveyed this weekend’s field of Duelists to see which card from Cosmo Blazer is their favorite. Check out their responses!
We got a lot of requests for Feature Matches. A lot. Many times, there are really great Decks that we’d love to cover, but we just don’t have enough time or manpower to do it. Other times, we aren’t aware of a great Deck because nobody told us it was there, so it gets passed over.
We are starting a new segment called Fanatic Yu-Gi-Oh! by definition a fanatic can be a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal or expressing excessive zeal. I find people who love Yu-Gi-Oh! are often both, we will be on the lookout for people who put the ‘fan’ in fanatic.
