The Duelist Alliance Booster Pack didn’t just unleash new Deck themes, but it also introduced tons of individual cards that are seeing tournament play – some tied to named themes, and some that stand entirely on their own! With the set still relatively new, we asked players to shout out their favorite card from DUEA.
It’s a new Advanced Format and a new play environment, thanks to the release of Duelist Alliance and the introduction of new Deck themes like Shaddolls, Satellarknights, and Burning Abyss. That’s caused huge shifts in the competitive landscape, and that means the ability to make reads on this weekend’s metagame and to accurately predict which strategies would be the most successful was clutch. With that in mind we asked competitors in the YCS main event one of the biggest questions of the weekend: “What’s your favorite Side Deck card for YCS Toronto?”
With so many different Decks in the mix this weekend, Duelists needed to make strong reads about what strategies they believed would be the biggest here at YCS Toronto. In a field where so many Decks could be viable you can only Side Deck for a relative handful, so you have to figure out which strategies are likely to be the most popular. That’s the question we took to the tournament floor, as we asked competitors what one Deck they believed would be the biggest one in competition!
