The last time we saw Pete Navarro in San Jose, he came in 4th place using an innovative Volcanic Quickdraw Deck in 2010. He has chosen to battle with Speedroid Majespecter this weekend, a new powerful Pendulum strategies from Dimension of Chaos. His Deck looks to gain early advantage and grind out the opponent by repeatedly Pendulum Summoning Monsters until his opponent runs out of resources. Stephen Silverman on the other hand is using an equally awesome Deck: Performage Lightsworn. Known for his win at SJC Los Angeles 2010 with Lightsworn, Silverman is looking to run back his luck this time. His strategy tries to abuse Rank 4 Xyz Monsters, mainly Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn, and fill his Graveyard with resources to eventually bury the opponent.
Who will come out on top?
Navarro won the roll and chose to go first.

The last time the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series visited Dallas, two-time YCS winner Billy Brake defeated the defending Yu-Gi-Oh! World Champion to claim a legendary third title with a crazy 60-card Deck. The stars must align for Dueling dreams in Dallas though, as this year we saw another miracle with YCS First-Timer Erik Christensen beating out 1,287 competitors, facing off against Matt Kolenda’s Burning Abyss Deck in the finals, with an absurd 16-0 record to become not only a champion, but the first to ever do so piloting Infernoid! Few have ever managed to take down a YCS completely undefeated, the last being TJ Kinsley at the 150th YCS Columbus this past May, but to do so using a strategy that no one else had managed to make the Top Cut with is quite a feat. And if going undefeated and doing so with a unique Deck was not enough, this really cemented itself as a Cinderella story with Christensen having never competed in a YCS before. The combination of attending your first YCS, going undefeated, and doing so with a Deck that others have underestimated is the dream of every Duelist who has not had a chance to show their stuff on the big stage – Christensen accomplishing this shows that it is possible.

This is it, two Cinderella stories in the making and whatever happens is bound to be awesome. Matt Kolenda placed 5th at this year’s North American World Championship Qualifier, earning a spot at the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship in Kyoto, Japan this past August. While he did not put up the best results there, he is back with vengeance and Dueling as hard as he can to claim the title with his Burning Abyss Deck. His opponent on the other hand is at quite the opposite end of the spectrum, Erik Christensen is a YCS First Timer who has managed to go undefeated, 15-0, throughout the whole tournament leading up to this match. Not only is this record astoundingly strong for a YCS First Timer, but he is the sole Infernoid Duelist in the Top Cut.
Can Kolenda continue to put up the insane results that he has this year? Or will Christensen manage t omake history and go undefeated and win the YCS with Infernoid? We are about to find out, and it’s time to Duel!
Christensen rolled an 8 to Kolenda’s 6 and chose for Kolenda to go first.

Matt Kolenda has had quite the year, qualifying for the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship by placing 5th in the North American World Championship Qualifier. Even with such a big accomplishment, becoming a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Winner is what the goal is for today. He has chosen to use a Burning Abyss Deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent and continual pressure thanks to Malebranches. His opponent, Ed Elton Acepcion, may not have the same credentials, but has still proven his worth today with the same strategy. This is a Burning Abyss mirror match where choosing the correct line is very important, but of course getting a bit lucky with Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss does not hurt either.
Who will make it to the final stage of YCS Dallas?
Kolenda won the roll and chose to go first.
