Round 10 Feature Match: Tyler Stebner versus John Wells

October 4th, 2015

Ritual Beast Decks enjoyed a short surge in popularity a few months ago, but gradually faded away on the tournament scene. Tyler Stebner is here this weekend to show everyone that Ritual Beasts are still a force to be reckoned with. Stebner has updated his Ritual Beast Deck with Instant Fusion, to accommodate the addition of Elder Entity Norden in his Extra Deck and to facilitate the Special Summoning of his Ritual Beasts. Now, he’s facing off against John Wells’s Burning Abyss Deck in this Round 10 Feature Match! Wells’s Burning Abyss Deck is teched out with 2 copies of Vanity’s Fiend, 2 copies of Majesty’s Fiend, and Storming Mirror Force, differentiating it from most of the other Burning Abyss Decks competing this weekend. Stebner and Wells both currently have 8-1 records, but only one of them will be able to win this Round 10 Feature Match to virtually lock himself into a spot in the Top 32. It’s time to Duel!

Round 11 Feature Match: Omar Daoudi versus Courtney Hostler

October 4th, 2015

This is it, the final Round of Swiss here at YCS Dallas. Both Omar Daoudi and Courtney Hostler are sitting at 8-2, needing a single match win and a mere three points in order to practically lock a slot in the Top 32 Cut. Omar Daoudi albeit being a newer Duelist on the scene is no stranger from the Feature Match Area, having topped all four YCS he has ever attended including his very first. He is looking to make this the perfect number five, and has chosen his typical weapon of choice, Nekroz, to do it. Courtney Hostler on the other hand is taking quite the different approach, using a 57 card Performage Shaddoll Deck packing Mistake and a ton of other tools to try to lock out Nekroz.

Will his Ritual mastery put Daoudi into another Top Cut? Or will Hostler’s awesome big Performage Shaddoll Deck reign victorious?

Hostler won the roll and chose to go second

We are back for Day 2 of YSC Dallas, both Zhenning Guo and Carlos Medrano are currently 7-2 in the tournament, barely holding on for dear life as they need a 9-2 record to safely get into the Top 32 Cut. Round 8 Feature Match: William Montes versus Erik Christensen

October 4th, 2015

California’s William Montes is Dueling against Florida’s Erik Christensen at Table 1 in our Round 8 Feature Match! Both of these Duelists are currently undefeated with less conventional strategies. Montes is using a Shaddoll Deck featuring Star Seraph Scepter and Star Seraph Sovereignty – 2 cards that many Duelists seem to have removed from their Shaddoll Decks after new Performage monsters were released to take their place in Clash of Rebellions. Christensen, on the other hand, is using an Infernoid Deck strengthened by the new release of PSY-Framelord Omega in High-Speed Riders. Christensen is able to easily Summon PSY-Framelord Omega in his Deck thanks to his Level-shifting Infernoid Decatron Tuner, and he can use his Omega’s effect to return a banished Infernoid to his Graveyard each turn. One of these two Duelists will advance to today’s final Round of Swiss with a perfect 8-0 record, and we’re about to find out which Duelist it will be. It’s time to Duel!

Round 7 Feature Match: Chalana Bel-Air versus Bernado Miranda

October 4th, 2015

We have quite the interesting Deck at 5-1, Chalana Bel-Air has chosen to make the trip this weekend from Miami piloting a Performage Challenger strategy that basically centers around the combo of Heroic Challenger – Thousand Blades and Performage Trick Clown giving you an easy way to make multiple Rank 4 Xyz using both the Heroic Challenger and Performage engines. His opponent is Bernado Miranda, running a 50 card Nekroz Deck that seems fairly similar to every other Nekroz list we’ve seen albeit a bit bigger. Will this new take on an Xyz strategy be able to defeat Nekroz? Or will the tried and true blue Deck be able to reign victorious?

Bel-Air won the roll and chose for Miranda to go first.
