This is the final round of Swiss! The results here will determine the final standings as we make the cut to Top 32. A win here will give a solid chance at making the top cut, but the loser will be out of the competition for sure. We’ve got a Shaddoll mirror match, though each player is using very different variants of the strategy. New York Duelist Gaetan Georges is using a version with Artifacts, packing Artifact Sanctum and a variety of Artifact monsters, including the Artifact Lancea that’s been proving to be a useful counter to top Decks today. He’s also using the hugely powerful Secret Village of the Spellcasters! His opponent is Isabella Sierra, from Cincinnati, using a build featuring a multitude of LIGHT and DARK Dragons! Both players have similar plays available with their Shaddoll monsters, but wildly different ways to go about them.

18-year-old Walter Jule from San Diego is Dueling against local 21-year-old Chicago Duelist Antonio Maldonado in this Round 11 Feature Match that will determine which Duelist advances to the Top 32! Jule and Maldonado both currently have 8-2 records, so a win in this round will be essential to a Top 32 finish. Jule is using a Nekroz Deck, like so many others that are popular at the top tables right now. Maldonado, on the other hand, is using a Qliphort Deck – a Deck that appears to have faded out of popularity with the release of the recent Forbidden & Limited List. Will Jule’s Nekroz Deck be able to overwhelm Maldonado’s Qliphorts in this Round 11 Feature Match? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!

Marcus Carisse from Toronto and Jordan Bermudez from Kentucky are both currently 8-1 in this weekend’s YCS tournament. Both Duelists and Decks seem well-equipped to beat Nekroz Decks – Carisse has Dueled against 5 Nekroz Decks and defeated all of them this weekend, while Bermudez has Dueled against 7 Nekroz Decks and only lost to 1. But neither one of these Duelists will be facing off against a Nekroz Deck in this round. Carisse is using a Satellarknight Deck, while Bermudez is Dueling with Shaddolls. Both of these Decks have a somewhat similar style, as they both aim to gradually gain the upper hand through the effects of their monsters; but only one of these Decks – and one of these Duelists – will enter the final Swiss Round with a 9-1 record and an incredible shot at a Top 32 finish. It’s time to Duel!

We’re in the final round of Dragon Duels for Day 1 of YCS Chicago! We’ve got Zachary Taylor here up against Jackson Sayre! Does that name seem familiar? It might be because we just saw his dad defeat Billy Brake in Round 1! The winner of this Duel will get to come back tomorrow to face Sunday’s Dragon Duel winner for the title of YCS Chicago Dragon Duel Champion!
Dragon Duels are now a Sealed event, using Battle Pack 3: Monster League rules. In Sealed Play, you open up Booster Packs and build your Deck directly from those cards. And since it’s Battle Pack 3, we’ll be playing under the Monster League rule – all monsters are treated as all Types, at all times. That makes for some very cool card interactions. Let’s see how our top Dragon Duelists fare under these conditions!

Jayesh Madani from Schenectady, New York and Ryne Hanson from Albertville, Minnesota are both currently 7-0 in this weekend’s tournament. Madani is using a Nekroz Deck, which is currently the most popular Deck at the top tables. His opponent, Ryne Hanson, is using a Satellarknight Deck. Nekroz Decks typically hit a lot harder than Satellarknight Decks, but if Hanson can establish control with the right Trap Cards, he’ll be able to stop Madani’s Nekroz Deck in its tracks. Only one of these two Duelists will be able to advance with an 8-0 record, and we’re about to find out which Duelist it will be. It’s time to Duel!

Drew Eichenser from Denver, Colorado and Bo Smith from Bowling Green, Kentucky are both 5-1 in the tournament. Now, they’re Dueling against one another in a Match that will determine who advances with a 6-1 record. Eichenser is using a Gadget Deck featuring Fire Hand and Ice Hand. Eichenser’s Deck is full of monsters that replace themselves with new ones whenever they’re Summoned or destroyed. Smith, on the other hand, is using a Nekroz Deck that aims to completely overwhelm his opponents with the power of his Nekroz monsters. Will Eichenser’s unconventional strategy catch Smith off guard and allow him to win the Match, or will Smith’s Nekroz monsters be too much for Eichenser to handle? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!
