Round 7 Feature Match: Dale Bellido Versus Emerson Perkins

Dale Bellido is one of the greatest Canadian Duelists of all time! A former YCS winner he has seventeen career tops in YCS and WCQ competitions, spanning 2005 to 2010. Largely retired at that point, he returned to top YCS Toronto in 2011 and 2013, and now that YCS action’s returned to his home town once again, Bellido’s back in the hunt after a long while off.

YCS Toronto Round 7: Chase Cunningham Versus Matthew Chicas

Chase Cunningham recently returned from the World Championship where he placed in the Top 4. He earned his invite to that event by getting second at the North American WCQ, a feat not many can say they’ve accomplished. He’s here today playing the same Deck that took him so far at the NA WCQ: Burning Abyss. His opponent is Matthew Chicas piloting the popular Performage Shaddoll Deck. Chicas won the die roll and opted to go second.

Top Tables Update: Round 6

Here at YCS Toronto innovation has been everywhere. The new Performage monsters have been splashed into almost every deck imaginable, and a variety of Clash of Rebellions cards have found themselves in tons of different strategies. To understand just how prevalent these cards are it’s a good idea to glance at the Top 10 tables as of Round 6. Here’s what the players with the best records are playing headed into the Sixth Round!

YCS Toronto Round 5 Feature Match: Ricky Lee Versus Matthew Beckford

August 30th, 2015

Ricky Lee came from Michigan today with his Qliphort Deck and he’s currently undefeated. His build includes the new Wavering Eyes as well as some lockdown tech in the Main Deck like Majesty’s Fiend. His opponent is Matthew Beckford and he’s brought his Ritual Beast Deck today. Will Lee’s traps be enough to stop Beckford’s combos? We’re about to find out. Ricky won the die roll and opted to go second.

The YCS Toronto Game Mat Gallery!

YCS Toronto marks the debut of a brand new Championship Prize Card – Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn. We’ll have more info on that later, but Minerva’s not the only new prize on offer this weekend. Six game mats are on offer in different kinds of tournaments here at the YCS, including the new Top Cut mat featuring Minerva herself, so this is a great time to give you a sneak peek!

Round 4 Feature Match: Bodan Temnyk Versus Shoaib Ikram

International super-star Duelist Bodan Temnyk hails from Sydney Australia, but he’s on the third week of a trip across North America that’s thus far included California, Philadelphia, and now Toronto. He’s playing the Performage Nekroz deck that’s been hugely popular today, but his opponent is Shoaib Ikram, from nearby Waterloo. Ikram is running an Infernoid deck with three copies of the new Infernoid Decatron, plus sided copies of Mistaken Arrest. This could wind up being tough for Temnyk if Ikram can get a foothold in the Match.

Round 3 Feature Match: Fraizer Smith vs Eric Polk

August 29th, 2015

Fraizer Smith traveled here from Philadelphia and is using his Nekroz Deck featuring a Performage engine to make easy Rank 4’s and give himself easy tributes with Nekroz of Valkyrus. His opponent is Eric Polk using his Kozmo Deck made possible by Clash of Rebellions. This matchup is sure to feature a ton of new cards and it’ll be awesome to see what combos are execute. Smith won the die roll and opted to go second.
