YCS Origins – Top 8 Feature Match: Clifton Land versus Christian Georges

Christian Georges is the only Monarch Duelist remaining in the tournament. He’s using an interesting build, without the Brilliant Fusion most other Monarch players used today. Instead, he has interesting choices like Emergency Teleport and Escalation of the Monarchs! His opponent is Clifton Land, using Performapal Dracoslayers. He can make big plays using Pendulum Summons and the Dracoslayer Extra Deck monsters.

YCS Origins – Top 16 Feature Match: Collin Reardon versus Johan Burke

Out of over 600, only 16 Duelists remain in the tournament! Collin Reardon is here from Virginia, packing a Monarch Deck. Like many Monarch Duelists, he’s been successful with Brilliant Fusion, which enables of variety of plays with Gem-Knight Seraphinite. He’s facing Johan Burke, out of Delaware, using a Magician Pendulum Deck. It has a variety of monsters that have great synergy together, and can Pendulum Summon Mist Valley Apex Avian and Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin over and over harass his opponent.

YSC Origins – Round 9 Feature Match: Michael Keller versus Darren Stephenson

Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Origins coverage! We’re kicking things off with a very interesting matchup today! Michael Keller came here from North Carolina, and is using a Pendulum Deck featuring a synergistic series of Performapals, Majespecters, Odd-Eyes, and Magician cards, packing the awesome Mist Valley Apex Avian! His opponent is Darren Stephenson, who came all the way from the United Kingdom. He’s using a hybrid Burning Abyss Monarch Deck! He’s able to use the effects of Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss and Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal to load the Graveyard with his important Monarch cards, like Pantheism of the Monarchs and The Prime Monarch.

YCS Origins – Round 4 Feature Match: Cordero Spencer versus Tobias Eyre

Welcome to Round 4! Chicago’s Cordero Spencer is currently undefeated with Majespecters, a Deck that saw success upon release but was quickly overshadowed by other Decks like Nekroz. Spencer has updated the Deck with newer cards from Breakers of Shadow, Pendulum Reborn and Majespecter Toad – Ogama. His opponent is Tobias Eyre, from West Virginia, and is using a Dracoslayer Performapal Deck. These are two Pendulum Decks with very different goals – which will emerage victorious?

Edwin Davis is here from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, wielding the power of the mighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon! He’s using some interesting cards other Blue-Eyes Duelists aren’t playing, such as Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon and The Claw of Hermos! He’s facing Robert Atwood from Indianapolis, Indiana, using a Monarch Deck. Monarchs have been a force to be reckoned once again, since their awesome new cards in the Emperor of Darkness Structure Deck. Can the new Blue-Eyes Deck handle the established Monarchs?

YCS Origins – Round 1 Feature Match: Christopher Redmer versus Naveen Shankar

We’re kicking off YCS Origins with Christopher Redmer, from Michigan, up against Naveen Shankar from Maryland. Shankar was the winner of the North American Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier in 2009, and as a result of that victory, earned the honor of attending a ‘King of the Hill’ event at Jump Festa in Japan. Redmer is using a new take on an age-old strategy: Counter Fairies! He’s using Guiding Ariadne and Bountiful Artemis along with tons of Counter Trap Cards like Solemn Strike to control the Duel. Shankar is using Monarchs, one of the most popular choices in recent tournaments. Redmer’s Deck is capable of Dueling against Monarchs, but it’s more geared to handle Kozmo and Burning Abyss opponents – will neglecting the Monarch matchup prove to be his downfall?
