Finals Feature Match: Andres Torres versus Christopher Brown

April 11th, 2016

Andres Torres has had a couple Feature Matches this weekend, and thus far each has showcased just how good he is with Performapal Pendulums. However, due to an unfortunate Deck List error he is without a Performapal Monkeyboard, a key combo piece to the Performapal engine. This hasn’t stopped Torres yet though, as he has managed to Duel through all of this and still make it to the finals. His opponent is Christopher Brown, another Performapal Pendulum pilot who has also shown quite a bit of mastery given that he has here. Only one can truly be the Master of Pendulum and take home all of the marbles, so who will it be?

Torres won the roll and chose to go first.

Top 8 Feature Match: Patrick James versus Andres Torres

April 10th, 2016

The Field has been whittled down to nothing but Performapal Pendulums and Burning Abyss variants. Both Patrick James and Andres Torres have made it thus far with their Performapal Pendulums, but only one can move on. We saw Torres earlier this weekend completely dominate a Performapal mirror, so we can expect that not much has changed since then. Patrick James is a regular of the Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series and no stranger to the Feature Match area though, so you can’t count him out just yet. However, Torres is playing with a big handicap. Because of a Deck List error, he had accidentally missed Performapal Monkeyboard and no longer has it in his Deck! Can Torres manage to continue winning even without a key Performapal combo piece?

Torres won the roll and chose to go first.

April 10th, 2016

This could be the last tournament that we see Performapal Pendulums in action, so it’s quite fitting that this Round we have another mirror match. Only one can move onto the Top 8, while the other will be sent home. Who will show their Pendulum mastery?

Infante won the roll and chose to go first.

Top 32 Feature Match: Jose Lagunes versus Esala Wathathantrige

April 10th, 2016

Jose Lagunes took down YCS Atlanta with full power Performapal Pendulums, but since has opted to switch to Burning Abyss Phantom Knights for this tournament. He ended first after Swiss, so even though he has chosen to switch strategies, he has clearly shown proficiency given his Swiss record. Esala Wathathantrige may not have a Championship under his belt, but he is no stranger from the YCS Top Cut. He has chosen to use Performapal Pendulum Deck this weekend, a strategy that we will probably see a lot less of come tomorrow with the Forbidden & Limited List taking effect. Can Lagunes take down another YCS? Or will Wathathantrige show that credentials only mean so much? The winner will advance to Top 16, the loser will be out of the tournament.

Lagunes won and chose to go first.

He is piloting Burning Abyss Phantom Knights this weekend, and as a veteran Burning Abyss Duelist he definitely knows what he’s doing. His opponent is Giovanni Gonzalez, one of the few Domain Monarch Duelists left in the tournament. We have seen much more of the Xyz Monarch variant, but at 8-1-1 Gonzalez is showcasing that Domain of the True Monarchs is still just as powerful as it was before. Who will guarantee their slot in Top Cut?

Gonzalez won the roll and chose

Since then, Hani Jawhari has fought his way to the top tables, surpassing his older brother and remaining in contention for a Top 32 finish. Now, he’s paired up against Infernoid Duelist Henry Tumkaya. Tumkaya is using Void Imagination in his Infernoid Deck – a powerful card that can send lots of Infernoids to the Graveyard at once, but that many competitive Duelists have decided to exclude in past versions of Infernoid Decks. Will Tumkaya’s unique Deck choice and creative build allow him to win this Round 9 Feature Match, or will young Hani Jawhari’s Performapal Pendulum Deck be too much for him to handle? Round 9 Feature Match: Jonathon Castillo Gomez versus Jacob Cope

April 10th, 2016

Jonathon Gomez took victory of Patrick Hoban in the finals of YCS Charleston, and since then has made a name for himself by showing consistent performance. He is Dueling with an Xyz Monarch variant similar to what he topped YCS Las Vegas with, so with so many reps in he knows exactly what he wants to be doing. His opponent is Jacob Cope, one of the many Performapal Duelists trying to showcase why this Deck will be hit so hard on Monday. Both players are currently 6-2, so a loss here means being out of Top Cut contention.

Gomez won the roll and chose to go second.
