Round 8 Feature Match: Howard Autin versus Colby Blomstrom

 YCS First-Timer Howard Autin from Hammond, Louisiana and Colby Blomstrom from Houston, Texas are both currently 6-1 in the tournament. Although both of them are guaranteed a spot in Day 2, only one of them will advance with a 7-1 record that will position him more favorably for a Top 32 finish. Howard Autin is using a Kozmo Deck, while Colby Blomstrom is using a Monarch Deck featuring a copy of Frost Blast of the Monarchs from Premium Gold: Infinite Gold. Which Duelist will prevail? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!

Round 8 Feature Match: Christopher LeBlanc versus Jesse Flores

Christopher LeBlanc is no stranger to the main stage. A two-time YCS winner, LeBlanc is looking to get his third ring here this weekend. He is piloting an Xyz Monarch variant utilizing Overdrive Teleporter as a way to enable big combos involving Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. His opponent is trying to abuse Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal as well, but in a very different way. Jesse Flores is one of many Duelists who piloting Burning Abyss, but he has a bunch of sweet tech like Sky Scourge Norleras, Monster Reincarnation, and even Speed Recovery to help his Speedroid engine. Both Duelists are 6-1 with very exciting Decks, but who will glide into Day 2 able to give a loss?

Round 7 Feature Match: Junior Puente versus Andrew Truong

Junior Puente from Austin, Texas is Dueling against Andrew Truong from Houston, Texas in our Table 1 Round 7 Feature Match! Puente is using a Kozmo Deck, while Truong is playing Performapal Pendulums. Both of these Duelists are using popular Decks, and both of them are currently undefeated; but only one of them can advance with a perfect 7-0 record. It’s time to Duel!

Round 7 Feature Match: Matthew Winford versus Jesse Gallet

Matthew Winford is currently 5-1 with a Monarch variant utilizing an Extra Deck. We saw this Deck break out initially at the UDS Invitational in LA as well as YCS Las Vegas, and since this tournament makes it seem like it has become a very popular choice. His opponent is Jesse Gallet who is piloting another strategy that has recently broken out into the competitive scene, a combination of Burning Abyss and Phantom Knights. Both engines try to abuse Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss, and with the release of Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal the Deck only got better. Can the might of the Monarchs vanquish the power of Burning Abyss and Phantom Knights combined?

Round 6 Feature Match: Cameran Paul versus Kyle Turnbull

Texas’s Cameran Paul and Oklahoma’s Kyle Turnbull are both currently 4-0-1 in the tournament. Paul is using the lone PSY-Frame Deck at the top tables, while Paul is using a Burning Abyss Deck featuring Speedroids. Who will advance with a 5-0-1 record? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!

Round 6 Feature Match: Andres Torres versus Charles Denton

Performapal Pendulum has seen by far the most success thus far looking back, and even though the Forbidden & Limited List goes into effect on Monday, that hasn’t stopped Duelists from trying to use it to claim the title this weekend. Both Andres Torres and Charles Denton are undefeated with Performapal variants, and while Denton has tech such as Magic Drain, Torres has his own sweet picks such as Magical Abductor. Who will be the true Master of Pendulum take victory at Table 1?

Saturday’s Dragon Duel Feature: David Flores versus Tyler Hanson

12-year-old David Flores from Houston, Texas is competing this weekend in his first tournament ever, and currently holds a 2-1 record in the Dragon Duels. 12-year-old Tyler Hanson from Benbrook, Texas has competed in Dragon Duel tournaments before, and as a result of his prior Dueling experiences, has managed to maintain a perfect 3-0 record. Now, David Flores and Tyler Hanson are Dueling against one another at Table 1, in a Match that decides who will become the winner of Saturday’s Dragon Duel. It’s time to Duel!

Round 5 Feature Match: Patrick Hoban versus Octavio Prado

Patrick Hoban is no stranger to the Feature Match area, and he usually brings a spicy brew along with him. This time around, he is Dueling with a Monarch Deck utilizing Brilliant Fusion as well as super cool combos with Overdrive Teleporter to Summon Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. His opponent is Octavio Prado, another Duelist who has chosen to take the tried and true path this weekend by Dueling with Performapals. Can Hoban manage to defeat the Pendulum menace with his awesome Monarch Deck? Or will Prado showcase just why Performapals have had so much recent success?

Round 4 Feature Match: Nestor Gomez versus Jaime Aguilar

Nestor Gomez and Jaime Aguilar are both local Duelists from Houston, Texas and both have 2-1 records in the tournament with their Atlantean Mermail Decks. Both of these Decks strive to defeat their opponents in a single turn, so we’re likely to see a quick Match. It’s time to Duel!

Round 4 Feature Match: Taylor Huynh versus Darrius Jackson

Taylor Huynh is Dueling with Infernoid, a Deck that we might not see much of come Monday because of Reasoning getting hit on the Forbidden & Limited List. However, Huynh is making sure to take advantage of it while he can and is boasting a 3-1 record right now in the tournament. His opponent is Darrius Jackson who has chosen to play a Deck we see much more often: Kozmos. The impressive openings that this Deck can do with Kozmo Tincan coupled with the potential burst of damage it can deal with Kozmo Farmgirl has made this strategy a very popular choice, and Jackson believes it to be the correct one for this weekend.
