Round 5 Feature Match: Billy Brake vs. Justin Morales

August 27th, 2016

Billy Brake is a three-time Champion with three YCS wins under his belt, and it was five years ago almost to the day, when he captured his first title right here in Toronto.  That was 2011, and the Deck was Plant Synchro – Brake realized that Maxx “C” was a good card before anyone else and won that YCS because of it.  Now he’s back in contention with Domain Monarchs, the most recognized and conventional Deck in competition. Billy Brake is representing CoreTCG – an Official Tournament Store located in Pasadena, California. CoreTCG is one of many Konami Official Tournament Stores at which fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME can Duel. You can find a Konami Official Tournament Store near you by using the locator available here!

Brake’s opponent, Justin Morales, is taking an approach to the tournament that is the exact opposite of the approach Brake is taking. Unlike Brake, who is using a tried-and-true Domain Monarch Deck, Morales is running a unique Majespecter Metalfoes Deck made possible by The Dark Illusion.  Morales is from Brampton, just outside the Toronto city limits, and a win over Brake would be huge.  Could he manage it?  We’re about to find out.

Round 3 Feature Match: Matthew Bishop vs. Daniel John Strzeszewski

August 27th, 2016

Matthew Bishop is a staple of the Toronto Dueling scene, undefeated here this weekend with Burning Abyss Phantom Knights. The kicker? He’s running Performapal Hip Hippo with triple Super Hippo Carnival from The Dark Illusion, something we saw in recent weeks from Joseph Bogli, who ran the same tech for different reasons in Monarchs. Bishop is also playing Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit in his Main Deck, along with Emergency Teleport, which can be used to Summon it.

Bishop’s opponent is Daniel John Strzeszewski, who traveled here this weekend from Detroit Michigan to compete with Metalfoes. We’ve yet to see Metalfoes in action, so this could be really interesting. That said, those Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbits could become a problem for him.
