Now, he’s meeting Marcus Hayden from Joliet, Illinois in the Finals. Hayden finished the Swiss Rounds with an 8-2 record. We’re down to 4 Duelists at YCS Minneapolis! We featured Joel White in the Top 16 with his Metalfoes Deck, and he’s still in the tournament now facing Dakota Angeloff and his Phantom Knight Burning Abyss Deck. One of these Duelists is going to the Finals, and will receive a guaranteed Super Rare version of the YCS prize card, Number 93: Utopia Kaiser. Who will move on to the Finals? Aaron Furman is fresh off his UDS Invitational win with Metalfoes, but has chosen to pick up Majespecter as his Pendulum strategy of choice for this weekend. Ties of the Brethren allows the strategy to accelerate to its midgame immediately, and feels just a little too similar to opening with Rescue Rabbit into Evolzar Laggia in previous Advanced Formats. Furman’s opponent is Gaetan Georges, a regular face at the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. He has piloted Blue-Eyes all the way to the Top 8 and is looking to go all the way. Both Duelists bantered back and forth before the Match started, but as light as they made this seem, one of them was going home while the other is moving on to the Top 4. It’s time to Duel!

After 10 rounds of Swiss, the field has narrowed down to just 32 Duelists. Going into the tournament, Blue-Eyes and Metalfoes seemed to be the Decks to beat. Blue-Eyes accelerates huge Dragons onto the field for massive Synchro and Xyz Summon plays, while Metalfoes represent the most proactive Pendulum strategy available. Burning Abyss Phantom Knight was also expected to have a decent showing, but maybe not as strong as the other two.
