After 9 rounds of intense Dueling, we’re down to just the Top 16 Duelists! We’ve got a local Guadalajara Duelist, Renee Gonzalez Villalobos, playing Trickstars! She’s playing a teched out build with Windwitches and Chain Summoning, which let her make a string of Trickstar Candina plays. Her opponent is Carlos Ramirez, from Uruapan, who’s playing Pendulum Magicians. While the Trickstars have some cool and surprising stuff, the Magician Deck is known for its consistency and resilience. Only one of these Duelists can move on from here… It’s time to Duel!

Welcome to the final round of Swiss! This Match is for national pride, with two Duelists who traveled from other countries to compete! We’ve got Jeffrey Louang from San Diego, California, packing a True Draco Deck. His opponent is Paulo Robert Goncalves da Silva, from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil! Goncalves is using Pendulum Magicians today. Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Guadalajara! Alejandro Navarro is here from Mazatlan, and he’s packing a dedicated SPYRAL Deck! Nobody expected this, and he’s taking advantage with this amazing strategy. He has a 6-1 record, so if he can win two more Matches he’ll likely make it to the Top 16! He’s facing Domingo Espejel, from Mexico City. He’s one of the many Pendulum Magician Duelists in attendance, banking on the amazingly resilient and efficient Magicians from Pendulum Evolution. Pendulums are the most represented strategy here at YCS Guadalajara, so Navarro will definitely be prepared for them. Espejel, on the other hand, is probably not expecting SPYRALs.

Welcome Day 1’s final Swiss round! We’ve got Guillermo Soto Beltran, from Culiacan, Sinaloa, packing a Paleozoic Frog Deck. He’s up against Bryan Salvador Mar Berumen, from Tampico, Tamaulipas, who’s using Pendulum Magicians. Paleozoics have a strong matchup against Pendulum strategies, since the Paleozoic Deck can so easily Main Deck or Side Deck Anti-Spell Fragrance. However, Pendulum Magicians didn’t get to be so strong by simply losing to a single card – with careful play, Mar could still win this one. It’s time to Duel!

We’re well on our way through the Swiss rounds of Day 1 here at YCS Guadalajara! For this Match we have Ricardo Lora Zavala, Mexico City, up against Jaime Armando Marquez Avila, from Juarez, Chihuahua. Lora is using a popular Deck from last format, Dinosaurs! Like most Dino Decks, he’s paired it with True Kings and True Dracos to make huge combos with Babycerasaurus. Most Duelists have moved on from Dinosaur Decks after the Forbidden & Limited List put restrictions on Miscellaneousaurus and a multitude of True King and True Draco cards, but Lora’s undefeated record shows that the strategy is still capable of winning. Marquez, on the other hand, is using one of the new strategies from Code of the Duelist: Trickstars! He’s got a unique build which also features Windwitches. Trickstars are a flexible strategy, and almost any Deck will be different. Who will remain undefeated? It’s time to Duel!
