Top 32 Feature Match: Mohammed Khan vs. Juan Andrade

Out of over 1100 Duelists, only 32 remain! Illinois Duelist Mohammed Khan won YCS Dallas last year using SPYRALs, and he’s still playing them today despite the massive hit they took on the latest Forbidden & Limited List! His opponent is Juan Andrade, here all the way from Ecuador. Andrade is both a UDS winner and a YCS Champion, having won a UDS Invitational in Ecuador as well as YCS Buenos Aires. This will be a great match-up, featuring new forms of last format’s top decks, SPYRALs and Pendulum Magicians.

Top 32 Feature Match: Calvin Tahan vs. Nicholas Petzold

We’re now in Top 32! From here on, it’s Single Elimination until we have a YCS winner! At table 11 we have Calvin Tahan from Washington, D.C. playing ABC and ending Swiss with a record of 9-2. He’s up against Nicholas Petzold from Austin, Texas using Metalfoes True Draco, who made it to the Top 32 with a 9-1-1 record! Who will advance to Top 32?  Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Round 11 Feature Match: Blake Funderburke vs. Wei Li

This is the last round of Swiss. Both Duelists in this Round 11 Feature Match are 7-2-1 so neither can afford anything less than a win to keep their hopes for making the Top 32 playoff alive. 15-year-old Blake Funderburke from Long Island, New York and his opponent Wei Li from Brooklyn, New York are Dueling one another in this final Swiss Round. Li actually got his Deck from Blake, so both players knew this was a Mekk-Knight Invoked mirror match! Which of these players will keep their playoff hopes alive?  Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Round 10 Feature Match: Ryan Levine vs. Brenden Beckmann

We’ve got two very talented Duelists for our Round 10 Feature Match. Ryan Levine is a YCS Champion, having won the title at YCS Melbourne last month! He’s using Mekk-Knight Invoked for this event, one of the new archetypes introduced in Extreme Force. His opponent is Brenden Beckmann, who’s made the top cut of countless events. Beckmann is using a Pendulum Magician Deck, also featuring new Extreme Force cards – the Mythical Beasts! Beckmann lost his Feature Match earlier in the tournament, but he’s got a chance to redeem himself here.

Round 10 Feature Match: Johnathan Barber vs. Gavin Reiniche

Welcome to Round 10! We have 2 more rounds of Swiss before a cut to the Top 32 playoff. We wanted to feature a Dinosaur Deck and heard there was one floating around the tables at 7-2. It turns out there were two Dinosaur Decks playing each other. How cool is that?!  Both Johnathan Barber from Jacksonville, Florida and Gavin Reiniche from Chattanooga, Tennessee have Dinosaur decks; Barber has a 40-card Deck with True Kings while Reiniche has a 60-card deck with Plants and Zombies along with Dinosaurs. Who’s going back to the stone age?  Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Round 9 Feature Match: Jean Magueur vs. Luis Rivera

It’s the final Swiss Round before the cutoff! After this point only the top Duelists will move on for two more Rounds of Swiss followed by the Top 32. We’ve got Jean Magueur, from Tallahassee, FL, here using an innovative Frog strategy with the now Unlimited Rescue Rabbit! He’s packing three each of Slime Toad (formerly known as Frog the Jam) and Psychic Kappa to make easy Toadally Awesome and Link Summon plays. Unlike most recent Frog strategies, he’s using a fast-paced build with no Paleozoics – in fact, his only Traps are a playset of Evenly Matched. His opponent is Luis Rivera, from Tampa, FL, packing Trickstars. They’ve proven to be one of the biggest threats at this event, keeping their position as a top strategy from the last few months.
