Who will walk away with an Ultra Rare Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker and the title of YCS Champion? For the final time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!
Austin Marden, from West Jordan, UT, won yesterday’s Dragon Duel event. Las Vegas’s Diego Diaz took second in that event but managed to come back and win today’s! Diaz is an experienced Duelist, having multiple Dragon Duel Championship trophies already. Marden, however, is a very new Duelist – he’s only been playing for two months! It’s certainly impressive that he was able to take first yesterday, showing that he’s got a strong understanding of the game. The regular Dragon Duel tournaments use Battle Pack Sealed Decks, but this Match will be played with Advanced Constructed Decks. Diaz may have an edge here, because he’ll have more experience with these cards. He’s using a True Draco Deck, while Marden is using his Blue-Eyes Deck we saw in his Main Event Feature Match.
We’re now in the Top 4! A win here will guarantee someone a copy of the YCS Prize Card Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker. Ayinde Ross from Los Angeles, California ended Swiss in 10th place with an 8-2 record using a 60-card Dinosaur Plant Deck. His opponent is Alessio Giordani from Florence, Italy who ended Swiss with an 8-2 record in 19th place. He’s running a True Draco Deck. Who will make it to the Finals? It’s time to Duel!
We’re now in Top 8! Just 3 more Matches before we crown a new YCS Champion! We’ve seen Logan Johnson in action before with his Trickstar Deck, but now he’s up against Leonard Anaya and his True Draco Deck. Who will advance to the Top 4? It’s time to Duel!
We’re down to the Quarterfinals of YCS Salt Lake City! Ayinde Ross is the last Dinosaur Duelist left in the tournament. He’s using the new form of Dinosaurs which plays more like a combo Deck, mixing with a variety of Zombie and other cards to be able to make some huge opening plays. He’s up against Elvis Vu, one of the True Draco Duelists left in the tournament. Vu just won his Feature Match a few rounds ago, but can he do it again? It’s time to Duel!
Only 16 Duelists remain! This Match features two World Championship Duelists! We’ve got Adrian Shakir, from Colorado Springs, CO, playing Mekk-Knight Invoked. His opponent is Vincent Paglia, from Las Vegas, NV, playing True Draco. It’s time to Duel!
We’re now in the Top 16! Nicholas Petzold from Austin, Texas ended the Swiss Rounds in 11th place with a 8-2 record. He has an interesting Deck that centers around Metalfoes but also contains Purple Poison Magician and Astrograph Sorcerer, plus enough True Draco Spells and Traps to support Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King! He’s made it to Top 16 and is facing off against Jerald Acosta from New Jersey, who ended Swiss in 6th place with a record of 9-1 using a Pendulum Magician Deck. Only one of these players will move on to the Top 8. It’s time to Duel!
And now we’re in the Top 32! It’s Single Elimination from here on out! Darren Stephenson, from Newcastle UK ended Swiss in 4th place with a record of 8-2 with Pendulum Magicians. He’s up against the 29th seed, Tamir Brown from Peoria, Illinois who ended Swiss with a record of 7-2-1 with Burning Abyss! It’s the Deck that doesn’t know when to quit! Tamir’s Deck contains 60 cards including 3 copies of Galaxy Worm from Code of the Duelist which can Special Summon another copy of itself when it’s Normal Summoned, allowing for even more ways to Xyz Summon Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss! Who will be going on to Top 16? It’s time to Duel!
It’s the final Swiss Round of YCS Salt Lake City! We’ve got Marcus Hayden using a Pendulum Magician Deck, but it’s a bit different from the average Magician Deck you’ll see. He’s using Number S0: Utopic ZEXAL! He’s up against Elvis Vu’s True Draco Deck. Vu must be well versed in the Pendulum Magician matchup by now, but will he be able to handle Utopic ZEXAL? Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Salt Lake City! We’ve got Dakota Angeloff, here from Tuscaloosa, AL, packing a Lightsworn Zombie Deck. He’s not using the Dinosaur engine that many Duelists have flocked to, and it’s clearly working because he’s got a strong 6-2 record right now. He’s up against Jeremy Cummins, from Denton, TX. Cummins is using a Pendulum Magician Deck, which is still proving to be a top strategy.
