Finals Feature Match: David Mendoza vs. Clifton Land II

September 22nd, 2019

And it all comes down to this!  David Mendoza from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ended the Swiss rounds in 9th place and has a Deck with Danger! monsters and Danger! support cards like Danger! Zone and Danger! Response Team! along with Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher and Gren Maju Da Eiza, while his opponent, Clifton Land II from Kentucky entered the playoffs as the 2nd seed with Lunalight Orcust, a combo Deck capable of setting up Summon Limit backed by Knightmare Gryphon locking down Monster effects.  The winner will take home an Ultra Rare version of the YCS Prize Card Duel Link Dragon, the Duel Dragon, but whatever happens here will certainly be one for the books!  Either Lunalight Orcust will take its first YCS win in North America, or Gren Maju Da Eiza will take the win after taking second place at YCS Portland just a few weeks ago.  For the final time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!

Top 4 Feature Match: David Mendoza vs. Anandeth Sinhradsvong

September 22nd, 2019

Anandeth Sinhradsvong is the last Salamangreat Duelist left in the tournament and the last competitor who hasn’t had a Feature Match yet, so this was an easy pick.  He was up against David Mendoza, fresh off several Feature Match wins today with his Danger Gren Maju Deck.  The winner here would clinch a Championship Prize Card and have a shot at the title of YCS Niagara Falls Champion.

Top 8 Feature Match: David Mendoza vs. Austin Colling

September 22nd, 2019

Almost every competitor remaining in the tournament has had a Feature Match today, one of the exceptions being Austin Colling, who traveled here this weekend from Ohio.  With Cyber Dragon variants all over the Top 8 bracket we decided to check in again with David Mendoza, the last Gren Maju Duelist left in the tournament.  In his Top 32 Feature Match this morning Mendoza cleaved through his opponent in minutes; would luck be on his side once again, or was Austin Colling about to punch his ticket to the Top 4?

David Mendoza is one of two competitors to make it to the Top 32 with a Gren Maju Da Eiza Deck.  His build relies heavily on a Danger backbone including Danger! Response Team and Danger! Round 8 Feature Match: Stanley Lee vs. Nikolas Konikkos

September 21st, 2019

Welcome to Round 8! While both of these competitors have 16 points and are guaranteed a Day 2 appearance, one of them is 5-1-1 with Buster Blader. This is not a drill.  Nikolas Konikkos from Markham, Ontario is our Buster Blader Duelist and once I saw his name and Deck type come up during Top Table Updates, I couldn’t not feature it. His opponent is Stanley Lee, also from Markham, Ontario, running Sky Striker. Duel Links players may know Buster Blader and the Fusion Monster Buster Blader, the Dragon Destruction Swordsman but the strategy has many more tools at its disposal in the TCG and I can’t wait to see it in action. It’s time to Duel!

Infernoids versus Altergeists at Table 1? Heck yeah we were featuring it.

We didn’t have much time for preamble so let’s just dive right into what proved to be a drama-laden Match!
