These two Duelists both came up short in the Top 4, but they’re still fighting for a chance to get their own Super Rare copy of AnotherverseDragon! They’ve both been featured multiple times this weekend and they’re ready to throw down.
The Top 4 had arrived! Both of these competitors have one YCS win to their name: Koty Angeloff won YCS Secaucus in 2018, and Hani Jawhari won at Team YCS Lima alongside Arnold Nadaban and Cristian Urena. A win here in the Top 4 would place one of these Champions just a single Match away from their second Championship title. A loss would place them on the sidelines, out of the tournament entirely.
Dakota Angeloff from Tuscaloosa, Alabama is facing off
against Gabriel Netz all the way from London in the UK! Both Duelists are well
known amongst the most competitive circles and are extremely talented. Dakota
is not only an NAWCQ Champion, but a YCS Champion as well. Not to be outdone,
Gabriel has a YCS Top of his own and is hungry for more. We’re sure to get a
masterclass in great play.
The Dragon Duel winners from Saturday and Sunday are facing off for the title of YCS Pasadena Dragon Duel Champion! Aiden Moneke is facing off against Connor Rosenstein. Both duelists are from Portland Oregon, so whoever wins, that beautiful Dragon Duel Championship Trophy’s coming home to the same city! Both Duelists made Top Cut of the Dragon Duel Championship back in Chicago at the 2022 North America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship , and are using their awesome mats here today, each featuring a ton of signatures from their favorite Yu-Gi-Oh creators!
Only one Floowandereeze Duelist is left in the Main Event here at YCS Pasadena, and it’s France’s Baptiste Derouin! He’s facing off against Vincent Wong, from right here in Los Angeles. What makes this Match unique? There are no Ishizu Fairy cards in either Deck.
After 11 grueling rounds of play, we’re finally in the Top 32! We have Team YCS Las Vegas Champion Dominic Couch hailing from Georgia against Carlos Rosario from Puerto Rico! This is his first YCS Top Cut finish and he’s against an absolute titan!
Now that we’re in the Top 32 here at YCS Pasadena, it’s a great time to look at the prizes up for grabs in the YCS Main Event!
Everybody who makes the Top 32 earns their invite to the next World Championship Qualifier. To commemorate their achievement, they also receive a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Top Cut Game Mat, featuring the new YCS Prize Card, Anotherverse Dragon!
Chris LeBlanc won his fourth YCS title just two weeks ago at YCS Minneapolis, and now he’s back, clinging to a shot at the Top 32 here in the final Swiss Round of Day 2! His opponent is in the same situation: precariously perched on the bubble, wondering if even a win is enough to get him a seat in the Top Cut.
Florida’s own Kamal Crooks is facing off against Canada’s Justin Delhon! Both Duelists are familiar names on the YCS circuit, and both are extremely successful: Crooks is a multi-time YCS winner and Delhon has finished in the Top Cut of 9 events himself, still looking for his first win. With a record of 7-2 for both men here at YCS Pasadena, a loss here is the end of their tournament run. It’ll be an exciting match, full of intensity and skillful play.
Day 1 is almost over, and with two more Swiss Rounds tomorrow before the Top Cut, every win is precious! Blake Funderburke is fresh off a big finish at YCS Quito last month, where he took 3rd Place with his teammates Esala Wathuthantrige and Aaron Chase Furman. Funderburke’s three for three in Team YCS events: he made the Top Cuts at Team YCS Atlanta and Team YCS Las Vegas as well. But today he’s on his own, sitting at Table 16 with a 7-1 record, in striking distance of the Top Cut tomorrow.
