Top 16: Tyler Nolan vs. Kyle Kuhn

17-year-old Tyler Nolan from New Jersey is an aspiring writer who recently submitted an application to the Konami Strategy Site. He’s the last remaining T.G. Duelist in the tournament, and now he’s facing off against Canadian Duelist and YCS first-timer Kyle Kuhn, the only remaining Anti-Monster Duelist. T.G. Rush Rhino will be critical for Nolan in this Matchup, since it allows Nolan to attack over Kuhn’s strongest monsters; but Kuhn’s Thunder King Rai-Oh can spell trouble for Nolan’s T.G. Monsters.

Deck Profile: Daniel Deputy’s Anti-Monster Deck

With the most-feared Decks in this weekend’s field focusing on big combos that unleash multiple Synchro Monsters and strings of Special Summons, Anti-Monster Decks are on the rise.  An Anti-Monster Deck packs large amounts of monster destruction to keep opponents off balance, paring their field down to size so that big 1900 attackers can clean up the leftovers.  It makes fast, direct attacks to pressure opponents into struggling for big plays before they’re ready to make them, and it can steal Duels before other Decks even get started.  The Anti-Monster Deck’s monster lineup is a mix of powerful, simple attackers with high ATK; combined with a few weaker monsters that have strong, disruptive effects.  Here’s a prime example of a new version of this Deck, Piloted to 89th place by Daniel Deputy, missing out on the cut by just 1 Match Point. Round 1: Dragontamer Zackery Biscardi VS Sam “Monster Hater” Cooper

We’re seeing a lot of Duelists running Dragons here, today, including Atlanta’s Zackery Biscardi.  Long-time Duel fans may remember Biscardi from his performance with Gravekeepers, when Gravekeepers exploded at YCS Atlanta.  His opponent this round is Palm Bay’s Samuel Cooper, piloting an Anti-Monster strategy.  This could be an interesting Match, as Biscardi tries to break through with a flurry of Special Summons, and Cooper tries to keep him from doing it with cards like Thunder King Rai-Oh and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo.  Biscardi would have his work cut out for him.
