Canada’s Jesse Kotton Dueled his way to the finals of the World Qualifying Points Playoff to qualify for this year’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Berlin, Germany. Like Vargas, he Dueled in tournaments all year to earn his spot in the Playoff, and it paid off on Friday night when he turned it into a trip to Germany and an invitation to the most prestigious tournament of the year. Kotton is one of the most accomplished Duelists in the room this weekend, with two YCS victories from London and Knoxville, and attendance in two prior World Championships by qualifying for that most prestigious tournament twice before. Now, thanks to his success with his Sky Striker Deck on Friday, he qualified for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship for a third time. Check out how Jesse Kotton did it!

TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Berlin, Germany. He Dueled in tournaments all year to earn his spot in the Playoff, and it paid off last night when he turned it into a trip to Germany and an invitation to the most prestigious tournament of the year. Vargas is no stranger to high-level competition and high-level success: he became the champion at YCS Niagara Falls in October of 2018, and that victory came shortly after his championship win at the 2018 North America WCQ a year ago. 32-year-old Nathan Smith has been a big Yu-Gi-Oh! fan since the beginning. “I’ve been doing Yu-Gi-Oh! for about 7 or 8 years. I’ve bought every Structure Deck, Booster, and Tin. I’ve watched each series.”
Nathan loves wearing costumes of his favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! characters at conventions, but he has never done it in front of this many Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. “I’ve been Rafael from Waking the Dragons, Dimitri – the Copycat Duelist, Zane (both the good and the evil one), Yusei and Jack Atlas for 5Ds, and now Yuma for Zexal. Jonathan Ayon is fifteen years old, and hails from nearby Los Angeles! He started Dueling in 2009, and this is his first really competitive tournament. What better place to step up your game than at the 100th YCS tournament – the biggest TCG event in history?
