At every YCS, 4 Duelists are chosen by raffle out of all the Duelists who played in Public Events for a chance to win a Super Rare set of the Darklord Prize Cards. To claim them, they must win a 4-player single elimination tournament. In the finals, Zach Olmer was playing Dragons, while Rick Gratton was playing Quickdraw: the winner of this Match would walk away from this table with a set of the Darklord Prize Cards. Neither Duelist was wasting time, and the Match started immediately!

This is Kenny Kwan’s first ever YCS playoff appearance and he’s made it to the Top 4 with a Quickdraw Deck. His opponent, Sean McCabe, has topped 2 previous YCS tournaments, and made it here with X-Sabers. Only 2 Duelists remained in this tournament: Thanh Nguyen with Plant Synchro, and Kenny Kwan with Quickdraw Dandywarrior. Both of these Decks look similar at first glance, but when pitted head-to-head, the differences were sure to become apparent. The winner here would claim an Ultra Rare set of Darklord Prize Cards, airfare and accommodations to the North American WCQ, a netbook laptop, and the title of Champion. Nguyen won the toss and decided to go first.

Alistar Constantine and Alexander Martin are both 8-0 in the tournament and sitting at Table 1. With just 2 more rounds of Swiss left, a win here will guarantee one of these Duelists a spot in the Top 32. Constantine’s Blackwing Deck may have an edge over Martin’s Quickdraw Dandywarrior Deck thanks to Blackwing – Bora the Spear, but an early setup on Martin’s field could be trouble for Constantine.

Astute Duelfans might remember 13 year-old Jordan Grant from his repeated Feature Match wins at his first YCS just weeks ago, at YCS Indianapolis. While he played Frog Monarchs at Indy, he’s here in his second YCS outing piloting Quickdraw Dandwarrior.
His opponent is Jarel Winston, who has 4 Feature Matches to his name but only 1 Feature Match win! Winston is running X-Sabers with Debris Dragon, and like Grant, he’s 6-1 heading into this Round. Winston is a veteran of Championshi-level events, but hasn’t managed to win one yet. Grant is one of the brighest new rising stars in the Dueling universe, and wants this win just as much as Winston.

This Match saw 2 of the tournament’s most successful Decks going head-to-head, as Mark Alan Johnson took Gladiator Beasts against Sorosh Saberian’s Quickdraw Dandywarrior Deck. Both Duelists have had plenty of experience Dueling in Championship-level events, and this can be an unpredictable matchup, so it should make for a great Feature Match!
