Round 1: Carl Edouard Manigat vs. Stephen Neil Muldoon Marquez

Welcome to Round 1! There’s about 70 players in the tournament right now, but once the players with Round 1 byes enter the fray, we’ll have 243 players in the last Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational in North America! For Round 1’s Feature Match, we’re looking at Table 6 where Carl Manigat from Long Island, New York – who placed 2nd in last year’s UDS Invitational in Las Vegas – has a Shaddoll Invoked Deck powered up with cards from the recently released Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown. He’s taking on Stephen Neil Muldoon Marquez from Phoenix, Arizona and his Lunalight Deck. This matchup will come down to whether or not Muldoon Marquez can make his plays before Manigat can bring El Shaddoll Winda to the field. For the first time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!

UDS Invitational Chicago: Round 1 Feature Match: Stephen Silverman vs Tiffany Presley

Welcome to Round 1 of the Summer 2016 UDS Invitational! We’re starting the day with YCS Champion Stephen Silverman, from Philadelphia, PA. He’s using a new strategy – Cyber Angels! These Ritual Monsters enable a lot of powerful plays, with many ways to search out the cards he needs from his Deck. His opponent is Tiffany Presley, from Cincinnati, OH. She’s using a Performapal Pendulum Deck. The recent update to the Forbidden & Limited List gave her strategy a bit of trouble, but she’s updated it to keep up with the times. It’s still a very capable strategy, as shown by several Duelists at Regionals in the last month.

YCS Mexico City: Round 1 Feature Match: Brandon Ossiel Aguilar Gonzalez vs. Arturo Flores Arriaga

Brandon Ossiel Aguilar from Hidalgo, Mexico, represented the Central American region at the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Orlando, Florida earlier this year, and finished in thirteenth place. He is among Mexico’s top Duelists, and is competing this weekend with a Zombie Deck utilizing Zombie Master, Mezuki, Uni-Zombie, and a slew of Shiranui monsters, including Shiranui Solitaire from The Dark Illusion. Aguilar’s Zombie strategy is not as prevalent as many other strategies, but Aguilar is here to prove that it’s just as potent.

SA WCQ: Round 1 Feature Match: UDS Champion Juan Sebastian Andrade Castro Versus Andres Felipe Rojas Ramirez

Ecuador’s Juan Sebastian Andrade Castro captured the first-ever South American Ultimate Duelist Series Championship in March, triumphing over Peru’s Jose Anthony Bren Osores in a Kozmo mirror match.  Now he’s in the hunt for another title this weekend, as he looks to capture the South American Championship and win his way to the World Championship.  How sweet would that UDS title belt look on stage in Orlando?

His opponent is Andres Felipe Rojas Ramirez, from Cali, Colombia.  While Andrade’s piloting Tzolkin Monarchs, Rojas is running Speedroid Burning Abyss.  The competitors exchanged a friendly handshake before starting in on the first Match of the day.

Round 1 Feature Match: Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza Versus Moises Serrano Zamora

Moises Serrano Zamora is from right here in Mexico, and is competing in his first ever WCQ with Qliphorts, powered by Card of Demise.  His opponent is former World Champion Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza, hailing from Panama and playing an innovative and surprising anti-meta Deck.  Watch and see how this one unfolds; if the rest of today is as cool as this, we’re in for one heckuva ride.
