Over in the Public Event Playoffs, two Chicago Duelists were competing for a copy of Blood Mefist! Jason Okubo is playing a Samurai Deck with the new Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien, while Mitchell Celicious is running a Shooting Quasar Dragon Deck that’s made big waves in the Public Events up until this point! Celicious played Shooting Quasar Dragon three times in the Semi-Finals Match that preceded this one, unleashing it with what appears to be his catchphrase – “Are you ready?” – every time.

Billy Brake and Alistar Albans are no strangers to the top tables. Albans has made it to the Top 32 a total of 6 times, and Brake has made it there a whopping 11 times, including a YCS victory that he took last month in Toronto! Both Duelists entered this weekend’s YCS with near-identical Decks that they built together. Deck construction will not be a factor in this Match! Sean Montague and Daniel LaMartina both made it to the top 4 of the World Championship Qualifier in 2010, but have never played against one another. Now, for the first time ever, these 2 World Championship competitors are facing off against each other for a shot at advancing with a 9-1 record in the tournament. Sean Montague, who won the 2010 WCQ with X-Sabers, is using a Synchro Summon Deck in today’s tournament. REMATCH! Earlier this year we saw these two Duelists face off in the Top 4 of YCS Charlotte. There, an unbelievably lucky string of topdecks led to a huge comeback for Lacaille, who dealt Brake a crushing defeat. Lacaille was victorious with Coelacanth OTK, demolishing Brake’s X-Sabers despite a XX-Saber Gottoms combo that left Lacaille with no hand. Now, Brake had a chance to redeem himself. If he could, he’d win his first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series title.
