Blazing Dominion Genesys Points Update
The Blazing Dominion Premiere! events are happening this weekend at your local Official Tournament Store! If you’re going to pick up some cards early, or are just getting a head start on Deck-building, read this first so you know which cards will launch with points attached.

Kewl Tune B2B -> 40
Kewl Tune Crackle -> 70

Clown Crew Malabarisme -> 10

Fydraulis Harmonia -> 50
Dominus Spark -> 10
Solemn Accusation -> 12
As you can see, some of these cards have a rather extreme number of points assigned to them ahead of their release. We would normally prefer to let the gameplay sort out what the going rate for each of them should be, but there are 2 categories we’re assigning high initial costs to because the gameplay and Deck-building impact of the cards is so obvious.
“Do Everything” Cards
Kewl Tune Rotary, Kewl Tune Crackle, and Elfnote Regina all set off an extraordinary number of actions for their respective Decks and help you bypass existing point costs assigned to those themes. In addition, Crackle aggressively attacks the Extra Deck.
High-Impact Disruption from Hand
In terms of so-called “turn 0” disruptions, Fydraulis Harmonia is the best-in-slot card for any Deck that can spend at least 5 Extra Deck slots on Synchro Monsters, which many Genesys Decks already do. It’s strong enough that it can push players who don’t want to play a Synchro Deck into playing a Synchro Deck just to have access to this one card.
There are a couple more cards we were looking at but it’s probably less likely they will take off, so we’ll wait and see on those. But the strength of so much of Blazing Dominion is immediately evident that more and higher initial costing was warranted for this set.
And now, some reminders and a question/answer:
Reminders for Genesys at YCS Columbus (May 23/24) & Other Events
YCS Columbus will have the first full-fledged Genesys Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event:
- One big event, like every other YCS.
- Day 1 will be Saturday (this will change starting in August when Day 1 for Genesys events will be on Fridays), Day 2 on Sunday for those who make the cut after Day 1.
- All prizes are the same as the Advanced Format YCS happening in the same building, the same weekend. The trophy, the prize cards, the Giant Card of the winner’s choice, the Effect Veiler/Card Trooper/YCS Prize Card Packs for Day 2 finalists, etc. (Exception: No WCQ invites, for obvious reasons.)
Reminder #2: The WCQ events held this summer in North/Central/South America will have a special Genesys two-day event with a grand prize of a trip to Japan to attend Jump Festa, the manga and anime super-celebration, in December. (We’ve been doing this for years for the Dragon Duel Champions, you’ll get shown around by staff and get to see all sorts of cool things.)
Reminder #3: After Columbus, Genesys YCS events will have Day 1 on Friday, and Day 2 on Sunday. Saturdays will host Day 1 of the Advanced Format events. So if you’re there Friday and Saturday, you can play in Day 1 of both events for a shot at a Day 2 spot! (For North America, Genesys Fridays start in August. For Latin America, Genesys Fridays start in October.)
Q: Why were there no other point updates at this time?
A: Blazing Dominion injects a big pile of REALLY powerful cards into the game. Our current thinking is that combining adjustments based on usage and tournament results (the standard method), and adjustments based on new cards coming out, should be treated separately. It makes it clearer to focus on the task at hand (for us, and for you reading this). Also the timetables are different, product point adjustments need to happen based on the product release schedule, but usage adjustments are based on whenever a critical mass of tournament data comes together.
Q: Where can I find an OTS to play Genesys at?
A: You can find an OTS hosting Genesys tournaments using our locator, located here!
