We are in Round 3 for Advanced Format here at YCS Columbus, Ohio!

Ryan Carrigan is a VIP Duelist this weekend. So he is starting this tournament with a 2-0 record and static seating for the whole weekend! He’s using a Magistus Fairy Tail Deck this weekend, which recently received some huge support in Blazing Dominion and is backed up with Fairy Tail – Snow, fresh off the Forbidden & Limited List!

Corey Mazeall is currently undefeated and is utilizing a Dogmatika Bystial Branded Deck. Even with Branded Fusion limited to a single copy in his Deck, he is still sure that his Albaz strategy will lead him to victory.

Duel One

Mazeall started with The Fallen & The Virtuous; Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous; Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous; Forbidden Droplet; and Branded Opening. 

Mazeall started the Duel with Branded Opening in his Main Phase, Carrigan Chained Mulcharmy Fuwalos! He discarded Ecclesia and added Aluber the Jester of Despia. Mazeall then Normal Summoned Aluber and added Branded Fusion. He activated it, but was stopped by Carrigan’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Mazeall Set 2 cards and ended his turn. 

Carrigan Normal Summoned and activated Fairy Tail – Luna, and he added Fairy Tail – Matchgiru to his hand. He activated Matchgiru, Special Summoned it, and added Tails of the Fairy Tails. He activated Matchgiru’s other effect and changed Aluber’s name to Prince of Fairies.

Carrigan then activated Tails of the Fairy Tales, equipping it to Matchgiru. He tried to use its effect to Fusion Summon, but Mazeall Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous! Mazeall sent Albion the Branded Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy Tails of the Fairy Tails. 

Carrigan continued his turn by activating and re-equipping Tails to his Matchgiru and used its effect to Fusion Summon again. He Fusion Summoned Teller of Fairy Tails! Moving into the Battle Phase, Carrigan attacked Mazeall’s Prince of Fairies with Luna, and Mazeall activated Forbidden Droplet! He sent Cartesia to the Graveyard to cut Luna’s ATK so Prince would survive the battle. Then, Carrigan attacked with Teller and destroyed Prince. He Set 1 card and moved to his End Phase.

In the End Phase, Mazeall added back Cartesia, then tried to use Albion’s effect, but Carrigan Chained Teller’s effect and stopped Albion! 

Mazeall drew Incredible Eccelsia, the Virtuous, and Special Summoned it, then Normal Summoned Cartesia. He activated Cartesia’s effect, but Carrigan Chained his Forbidden Crown and negated the effect of Cartesia! Mazeall ended his turn.

In his Main Phase, Carrigan activated and Special Summoned back his Matchgiru from the Graveyard. He used its effect and added Fairy Tail Ball, which was then activated. Carrigan added Fairy Tail – Luna from his banishment to his hand. He then activated the effect of Tails of the Fairy Tails, equipped it to Matchgiru, and Normal Summoned Luna. Carrigan activated Luna’s effect and added another copy of Luna from his Deck to his hand.

Mazeall activated Cartesia’s effect and used it and Eccelsia to Fusion Summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. He activated its effect and sent Titaniklad the Ash Dragon to the Graveyard.

Carrigan Normal Summoned Fairy Tail – Luna and used its effect to add Fairy Tail – Snow to his hand. He went into his Battle Phase and attacked directly with all of his Fairy Tail monsters, thanks to the extra effect of Fairy Tail Ball!

Carrigan wins the first Duel of the Match!

Duel Two

Mazeall chose to start the second Duel with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring; The Fallen & The Virtuous; Super Polymerization; Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous; and Branded Regained. 

Mazeall Set 2 cards and ended his turn!

Carrigan went into his Main Phase and activated Instant Fusion! He Special Summoned Weaver of Fairy Tails. Carrigan activated its effect and Special Summoned Fairy Tail – Snow from his Deck to his hand! 

Carrigan then activated and Special Summoned Fairy Tail – Matchgiru. He activated Matchgiru’s effect and added Fairy Tail Ball, which he then activated. But Mazeall Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous! Mazeall sent Albion the Branded Dragon to destroy Ball. Carrigan then Xyz Summoned Fairy Tail – Wiccat using Weaver and Snow, he activated Wiccat’s effect to try and send cards from his Deck to the Graveyard, but was stopped by Mazeall’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!

Carrigan then Normal Summoned Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame! He activated its effect and equipped Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden, to Zorua. Carrigan then activated Zorua’s effect and Special Summoned Weaver from his Graveyard. Matchgiru was used to Link Summon an Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden.

Carriagan then activated the equipped Artemis to add Spenta, the Magistus Sealer, which he then activated to add Crowley, the Gifted Magistus! Carrigan activated Crowley’s effect to Special Summon itself and then used its effect to Fusion Summon Zoroa, the Magistus Verethragna. He banished Spenta to activate its effect and equipped Ninaruru, the Magistus Glass Goddess, to his Zoroa. 

Mazeall flipped Super Polymerization! He discarded Cartesia and used both of Carrigan’s Zoroa monsters for Garura, Wings of Resonant Life!

Carrigan Link Summoned Endymion, the Crescent Magistus, using Wiccat and Aleister. He activated its effect and equipped Endymion with his Spenta from the banishment. Carrigan then Set 2 cards and went to his End Phase. In the End Phase, Mazeall activated and added back Blazing Cartesia, then activated Albion, but was stopped by an Ash Blossom.

Mazeall drew The Bystial Lubellion. He activated Branded Regained and then activated Lubellion. Carrigan flipped Called by the Grave, and targeted Lubellion. Lubellion was banished and negated, then Mazeall used Regained and put Lubellion at the bottom of his Deck and drew Radiant Typhoon Vision! He activated it and added Mystical Space Typhoon. 

Mazeall activated Mystical Space Typhoon, and Carrigan Chained his Forbidden Crown! Mazeall Normal Summoned Cartesia and went to his End Phase.

In the End Phase, Carrigan activated Endymion’s effect and bounced Spenta to his hand. Then, he activated Fairy Tail – Snow in his Graveyard! He banished seven cards and Special Summoned Snow, which then flipped Cartesia face-down. 

Carrigan started his turn and went to his Main Phase. He activated Fairy Tail – Matchgiru and Special Summoned it, then used its effect to add Fairy Tail Ball. He activated Ball and added Fairy Tail – Luna. He Normal Summoned Luna and activated its effect to add Genia of the Ring. Carrigan then activated Spenta’s effect and added Rilliona, the Magistus of Verre. He Link Summoned Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians, with Endymion and Snow. Then used Selene’s effect to Special Summon Snow back to the field. Carrigan then Link Summoned Charmer Quartet in Bloom using Snow and Selene!

Carrigan activated his Charmer Quartet and Special Summoned Zoroa, the Magistus Verethragna, and Fairy Tail – Snow. He activated Zoroa’s effect and equipped Ninaruru, which he then activated to destroy Mazeall’s Branded Regained.

Moving into the Battle Phase, Carrigan attacked directly with all three of his Fairy Tail monsters. He then activated Wiccat’s effect and Special Summoned it by sending Snow to the Graveyard and attacked directly with Wiccat. Then, Carrigan Special Summoned Snow again and attacked directly to win the Match!
