Milano Fethu from Toronto, Ontario and Minsu Park from Atlanta, Georgia both have 9-2 records at YCS Pittsburgh. Now, they’re facing off in this Round 12 Feature Match! Fethu is using a K9 Vanquish Soul Deck, which has recently fallen out of popularity, while Park is using an @Ignister Maliss Deck. They’re both looking for a win in this round in order to boost their odds of making it into the Top 8 cut later today. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Park started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Maliss <P> Dormouse and activating its effect to banish Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Chessy Cat from banishment and then activated its effect on the field. He banished Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his hand to draw 2 cards and then paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon the White Rabbit. He activated White Rabbit’s effect to Set Maliss <C> GWC-06 from his Deck. Next, he sent Chessy Cat, White Rabbit, and Dormouse to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom. He used its effect to add Maliss in the Mirror from his Deck to his hand and then activated Maliss in Underground. He used its effect to banish Dormouse from his Graveyard and then paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Dormouse back to his field from banishment. Next, he activated GWC-06 by banishing Red Ransom as a cost and Special Summoned Chessy Cat from his Graveyard. He then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon his banished Red Ransom back to the field and banish Maliss <P> March Hare from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to return March Hare to his hand then sent Maliss <Q> Red Ransom and Maliss <P> Dormouse from his field to his Graveyard to Link Summon Cyberse Wicckid. Fethu promptly conceded with K9-66A Jokul, Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, “A Case for K9”, Stake your Soul, and Vanquish Soul Snow Devil in his hand.

Duel Two

Fethu opened up Duel 2 with “A Case for K9”, Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, Vanquish Soul Jiaolong, K9-X Forced Release, and K9-ØØ Lupis.

Park activated the effect of Dimension Shifter in Fethu’s Draw Phase! Fethu activated “A Case for K9” next, and Park stopped its effect by activating the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Fethu activated the effect of Hollie Sue in his hand by revealing Jiaolong and Special Summoned Hollie Sue. He used Jiaolong’s effect to Special Summon it and then combined Jiaolong with Hollie Sue to Xyz Summon K9-17 Ripper. He activated its effect, but lost out to Park’s Infinite Impermanence. Fethu Set the Forced Release to his back row and then ended his turn.

Park drew a card and then passed his turn with no play!

Fethu drew K9-66A Jokul and activated its effect to Special Summon it from his hand alongside Lupis. Park conceded the Duel, moving into the third Duel now having the knowledge that Fethu is using a K9 Vanquish Soul strategy.

Duel Three

Park started off Duel 3 by Setting a card to his back row and activating Maliss in Underground.

He used its effect to banish Maliss <P> Dormouse from his Deck and then paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it. He used Dormouse’s effect on the field to banish Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck and paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon White Rabbit from banishment. He activated the White Rabbit’s effect, and Fethu Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos from his hand. Fuwalos’s effect resolved, and White Rabbit’s effect Set Maliss <C> GWC-06 from his Deck. Next, he Normal Summoned Maliss <P> March Hare. Fethu activated the effect of Hollie Sue in his hand to Special Summon it by revealing Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger. Next, he activated Hollie Sue’s effect on the field by revealing Jiaolong and Heavy Borger from his hand and Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Razen from his Deck in the same column as Dormouse. He used Razen’s effect to add Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Caesar Valius’s effect to Special Summon it by returning Hollie Sue from his field to his hand. Next, he activated Caesar Valius’s effect by revealing Heavy Borger, Hollie Sue, and Jiaolong from his hand and destroyed Park’s face-down GWC-06. Then, heactivated Razen’s effect by revealing Heavy Borger and Jiaolong from his hand. Park Chained Maliss <C> TB-11 by banishing Dormouse as a cost. Park Special Summoned Chessy Cat from his Deck, allowed Fethu to draw a card from Fuwalos’s effect. Next, Park sent Chessy Cat, March Hare, and White Rabbit to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder, allowing Fethu to draw another card. Park used White Binder’s effect to banish Chessy Cat and March Hare from his own Graveyard, as well as Fuwalos from Fethu’s Graveyard. Park used the effects of his banished Chessy Cat and March Hare to Special Summon Chessy Cat and return March Hare to his hand, giving up 600 Life Points total. Next, Fethu activated the effect of Heavy Borger to Special Summon it by returning Razen to his hand. Then he revealed Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love from his hand to draw a card with Heavy Borger’s effect. Next, he used the effect of Jiaolong in his hand to Special Summon it. He used the effect of Jiaolong on the field by revealing Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju and Razen from his hand to add Hollie Sue from his Deck to his hand. Park continued his turn by Setting GWC-06 from his Graveyard face-down to his field with White Binder’s effect. He activated Chessy Cat’s effect by banishing March Hare from his hand and drew 2 cards. Fethu thought for a bit and then activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. That stopped Park from adding any more cards from his Deck to his hand during the turn, but also stopped Fethu from drawing more cards with the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Park continued his turn by Special Summoning Backup @Ignister from his hand and then activated GWC-06 by banishing White Binder from his field. He Special Summoned March Hare from banishment and then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon the banished White Binder back to his field. Next, he sent March Hare to the Graveyard to Link Summon Link Disciple. He sent White Binder, Chessy Cat, and Backup to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter. He used Hearts Crypter’s effect to return his banished Dormouse to his Deck and banish Caesar Valius from the field. Next, he sent Link Disciple and Hearts Crypter to the Graveyard to Link Summon Accesscode Talker and used its effect by targeting Hearts Crypter, increasing Accesscode’s ATK by 3000. He destroyed Heavy Borger with Accesscode’s effect by banishing Hearts Crypter from his Graveyard and then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Hearts Crypter back to his field. Next, he sent Hearts Crypter and Accesscode to the Graveyard to Link Sumon Firewall Dragon. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Fethu drew Vanquish Soul Start and added it to his hand of K9-X Forced Release, Vanquish Soul Razen, Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju, Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love, and 2 copies of Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue. He used Jiaolong’s effect in the Draw Phase by revealing 2 FIRE monsters from his hand, adding Heavy Borger from his Deck to his hand. Park activated Druiswurm’s effect in his hand by targeting White Binder in his Graveyard. He banished White Binder to Summon Druiswurm in Defense Position and then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon White Binder from banishment and draw a card. He activated White Binder’s on-field effect to banish White Rabbit and March Hare from his own Graveyard, and banish Heavy Borger from Fethu’s Graveyard. Park paid 600 Life Points to use the effects of White Rabbit and March Hare in banishment, returning March Hare to his hand and Special Summoning White Rabbit from banishment. He used White Rabbit’s effect to Set MTP-07 from his Deck face-down. Fethu moved into his Main Phase and then Tributed White Binder to Summon Dogoran to Park’s field, linked to Firewall Dragon. Next, Fethu revealed Razen from his hand to Special Summon Hollie Sue. He activated Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Razen and Heavy Borger from his hand, Special Summoning Jiaolong from his Deck. Park then activated the effect of the March Hare in his hand. He banished Hearts Crypter from his Graveyard to Special Summon March hare from his hand, then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon the Hearts Crypter. Fethu Normal Summoned Razen in the same column as Hearts Crypter and used its effect to add Jiaolong from his Deck to his hand. He then revealed Heavy Borger and Jiaolong from his hand to try to destroy Hearts Crypter with Razen’s effect, and Park Chained MTP-07 by banishing White Rabbit from his hand. Fethu Chained the effect of Heavy Borger in his hand targeting Razen, and Park Chained Hearts Crypter’s effect. He shuffled the banished White Rabbit back into his Deck and banished Hollie Sue from the field before Heavy Borger hit the field and Razen returned to Fethu’s hand. Park added March Hare from his Deck to his hand and banished Jiaolong with the effect of MTP-07. Fethu Special Summoned a Jiaolong from his hand with its effect next, and then used his Heavy Borger’s effect to draw a card. He activated Vanquish Soul, Start! and then used its effect by targeting Jiaolong. He added Hollie Sue from his Deck to his hand and then combined both copies of Jiaolong to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”. He used Ripper’s effect to add Jokul from his Deck to his hand and then activated Jokul’s effect by revealing Hollie Sue from his hand, Special Summoning Jokul and Hollie Sue. He added K9-66b Lantern from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Jokul and then combined Hollie Sue and Jokul to Xyz Summon N.As.H. Knight. He used its effect to take Hearts Crypter as N.As.H. Knight’s Xyz Material and attach Number 104: Masquerade from the Extra Deck to N.As.H. Knight. Next, he Xyz Summoned CXyz N.As.Ch. Knight and then used its effect to Xyz Summon Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade over it. He used Masquerade’s effect to destroy Park’s face-down Allure of Darkness. Next, Fethu used his Lantern’s effect to Special Summon it to his field alongside the Jokul in his Graveyard. He then used Lantern’s effect to add “A Case for K9” from his Deck to his hand and activated it to add K9-17 Izuna from his Deck to his hand. He combined Jokul with Lantern to Xyz Summon K9-66X “Jacks”. He activated Forced Release next, Special Summoning K9-X “Werewolf” over “Jacks” and destroying March Hare. He entered his Battle Phase, and then an attack from “Werewolf” over Firewall Dragon, inflicting double battle damage thanks to the effect of “Jacks”, wiped out the rest of Park’s Life Points!
