Edwin Strom from Middletown, New Jersey and Michael DiMisa from Daytron, Ohio both currently have 7-3 records in the Genesys Format Main Event at YCS Columbus, and now they’re Dueling against one another in this final Swiss Round! Strom is using a Radiant Typhoon Deck, while DiMisa is on an Elfnote Centur-Ion strategy. The winner of this Duel will have a chance of making the Top 8 cut if his tie-breakers are strong enough, but a loss in this round will guarantee elimination. Both Duelists will be giving this Match their all! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Strom started off Duel 1 by Special Summoning Radiant Typhoon Swen from his hand and using its effect to add Radiant Typhoon Vision from his Deck to his hand.

Next, he activated Radiant Typhoon Chant to add Radiant Typhoon Eldam from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned it and used its effect to add Radiant Typhoon Krosea from his Deck to his hand. He activated Vision to draw 2 cards and discard Radiant Typhoon Fonix, the Great Flame and then used the effect of Krosea in his hand to Special Summon it. He activated its on-field effect to add Radiant Typhoon Ascendance and Mystical Space Typhoon from his Deck to his hand. He combined Eldam with Swen to Xyz Summon Totem Bird and then Set 5 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

DiMisa drew Emblema Oath and added it to his hand of Stand Up Centur-Ion!, Centur-Ion Trudea, Elfnote Lucina, Centur-Ion Gargoyle II, and Nibiru the Primal Being. He Special Summoned Elfnote Lucina to his middle Main Monster Zone, prompting Strom to activate the effect of Hop Ear Squadron in his hand, targeting Krosea. He Special Summoned it and Tuned it with Krosea to Synchro Summon Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon. He used Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Hop Ear Squadron from his Graveyard. Then he Tributed the Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon to Special Summon Stardust Dragon and Tune it with Hop Ear Squadron to Summon Satellite Warrior. He used Satellite Warrior’s effect to destroy Lucina. Next, DiMisa Normal Summoned Centur-Ion Trudea. He activated its effect, and Strom Chained Offerings to the Doomed to destroy Trudea so that its effect couldn’t successfully resolve. Next, DiMisa activated Stand-Up Centur-Ion!, and Strom used his Totem Bird’s effect to negate its activation and destroy it. DiMisa followed up by activating Emblema Oath, and used its effect to Set a Stand-Up Centur-Ion! from his Deck. He flipped it face-up and then activated its effect by sending the Gargoyle in his hand to the Graveyard; but Strom Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Stand Up Centuri-Ion, prompting DiMisa to concede.

Duel Two

DiMisa opened up Duel 2 with Elfnotes: Welcome Home, Gravity Collapse, Twin Twisters, Centur-Ion Atrii, and Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness.

He activated Welcome Home and then activated its effect by sending Atrii from his hand to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Elfnote Lucina from his Deck and then used Lucina’s effect to add Elfnote Power Patron from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and then Tuned it with Lucina to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitzia. He activated the effect of his Power Patron to add Elfnote Fortuna from his Deck to his hand. He used Strelitzia’s effect to Special Summon Power Patron from his Graveyard and then Tuned it with Strelitzia to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon. Next, he Special Summoned Fortuna to his middle Main Monster Zone and used its effect to place Rhapsodia of Madness from his hand face-up into his back row. He then used Rhapsodia’s effect by sending Fortuna to the Graveyard and he Special Summoned Strelitzia. DiMisa Set Gravity Collapse and Twin Twisters before ending his turn.

Strom activating Radiant Typhoon Ascendance in the Draw Phase to add Mystical Space Typhoon from his Deck to his hand, then entered his Main Phase. He activated Illusion Gate by paying 4000 Life Points, destroying the Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and Special Summoning it to his own field. The Strelitzia in the middle Main Monster Zone was protected by Welcome Home. DiMisa activated the effect of Strelitzia’s to try to try to Special Summon a monster, but Strom negated the activation of its effect with Crystal Wing. Strom activated Radiant Typhoon Vision next, adding Mystical Space Typhoon from his Deck to his hand. He activated it to destroy a face-down Twin Twisters and then tried to Special Summon Swen from his hand; but DiMisa flipped Gravity Collapse and sent Strelitzia to the Graveyard to negate Swen’s Summon and stop Strom from Summoning any more monsters for the turn! Strom attacked directly with Crystal Wing, dropping DiMisa down to 5000 Life Points, and then Set 2 cards to his back row in Main Phase 2.

DiMisa drew Centur-Ion Trudea and Normal Summoned it to his center Main Monster Zone. He activated its effect, and Crystal Wing’s effect negated it. The Trudea remained on the field, since Welcome Home protected it from destruction. Next, DiMisa activated Welcome Home’s effect by sending Trudea to the Graveyard, and Strom Chained the effect of Shiina, Twin Tempests of Celestial Thunder! He Special Summoned it from his hand and returned all Spell and Trap Cards on the field back to the hand! DiMisa wasn’t able to resolve the effect of his Welcome Home, and promptly conceded.
