Our Dragon Duel finalists are here! These two awesome Duelists are no strangers to the Feature Match table. In fact, this is a rematch of the Dragon Duel Championship Playoff from the 300th YCS in Richmond a few months ago! Nicholas R. from New York and Gregory “PJ” from Ohio are facing off again in the Dragon Duel Championship Playoff round. Nicholas is using a Kewl Tune Deck today, while PJ is using his DoomZ Deck. One of these two Duelists is going to walk away with a Super Rare Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon prize card, and a trophy. 

It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

PJ won the dice roll and opted to go first. He started off the Duel by Normal Summoning DoomZ V Five – Amalthe and activating its effect, Nicholas Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! He activated Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity, and used its effect to add Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus from his Deck to his hand. PJ then activated Termimnus and sent Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron from his Deck to the Graveyard to add Medius the Pure. He then activated Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia from his hand and revealed Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction, banished a card face-down, and Special Summoned Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron from his Deck. PK then Special Summoned Therion “King” Regulus and equipped it with the Jupredo from his Graveyard. He Link Summoned Clockwork Knight using his other Jupredo and activated Jupredo’s effect to add DoomZ Raiders. PJ activated Raiders and destroyed the equipped Jupredo, then Special Summoned DoomZ VII Seven – Elara and activated its effect to Set DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” from his Deck. He flipped A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A. and equipped it to Amalthe. PJ activated Amalthe’s effect, Nicholas Chained Fydraulis, and PJ Chained Regulus to negate it!

PJ resolved his Amalthe effect and Xyz Summoned DoomZ Break – Diactorus, then Xyz Summoned DoomZ XIII Over – Graflareio and used Graflareio’s effect to add DoomZ Change from his Deck to his hand. He activated Change and destroyed Power Patron DoomZ from his Deck, used its effect, and added DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea from his Deck to his hand. PJ then activated Drastea’s effect and destroyed Graflareio and Special Summoned Drastea equipped with DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G.” from the Deck. He activated Graflareio’s effect and Special Summoned Jupredo. PJ then activated A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A. in his Graveyard and requipped it to Elara and ended his turn.

Nicholas had Duelist Genesis, PSY-Frame Driver, Fydraulis Harmonia, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in his hand. He drew PSY-Framegear Delta at the start of his turn.

Nicholas activated Duelist Genesis, but PJ Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! 

Nicholas ended his turn without any other plays.

PJ started is turn and activated A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A. and destroyed his Elara to Special Summon Power Patron DoomZ. He activated Elara’s effect and Set a DoomZ Change from his Deck. PJ activated his Power Patron’s effect and tried to turn Jupredo into an Xyz Monster, but Nicholas Chained Fydraulis Harmonia! He revealed 5 Synchro monsters from his Extra Deck, PJ Chained Drastea’s effect, and Xyz Summoned DoomZ XII End – Drastrius. Nicholas resolved Harmonia and Special Summoned Harmonia, sent Wind Pegasus @Ignister to the Graveyard, and destroyed PJ’s Jupredo. In a new Chain, PJ activated Drastrius and Jupredo’s effects. He added DoomZ Destruction and equipped Harmonia to Drastrius. 

Continuing his turn, PJ activated Raiders, but was stopped by Nicholas’ Ash Blososm. He tried to activate DoomZ Change, but Nicholas Chained PSY-Framegear Delta to negate it! Nicholas Special Summoned Delta and the Driver from his hand. Since Change was destroyed by Delta, PJ was able to activate its effect in the Graveyard and added back DoomZ V Five – Amalthe. He Special Summoned Amalthe with Change’s effect and then activated Amalthe to add DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea from his Deck to his hand. He equipped DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” to Amalthe, then used Amalthe’s effect to Xyz Summon DoomZ Break – Diactorus. PJ activated Diactorus and destroyed Raiders and Nicholas’ Driver. Then, he activated the Raiders effect to destroy Delta. PJ activated the effect of DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G.” and destroyed his Power Patron DoomZ, then Normal Summoned Alara, and Nicholas conceded!

Duel Two

Nicholas chose to start the second Duel. 

Nicholas Fydraulis Harmonia, Kewl Tune Reco, Kewl Tune Rotary, Kewl Tune Mix, and Effect Veiler. 

Nicholas began his turn Normal Summoning Kewl Tune Reco, and then Synchro Summoned Kewl Tune Track Maker with the Rotary in his hand. He activated Rotary and Track Maker, but PJ Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate Track Maker. 

With the effect of Rotary, Nicholas looked at PJ’s hand of DoomZ V Five – Amalthe, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Forbidden Crown, and another Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! He resolved the rest of his Rotary effect and added JJ “Kewl Tune” to his hand and activated it. He gained an additional Normal Summon of Kewl Tune Mix. Nicholas activated Mix’s effect and added Kewl Tune Cue from his Deck to his hand. He then Synchro Summoned Kewl Tune Remix. He activated the effect of Cue and banished PJ’s DoomZ Raiders from his Deck. Nicholas then used JJ “Kewl Tune” and Tributed his Track Maker to Special Summon Kewl Tune Reco from his Deck. He activated it, but it was negated by PJ’s Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion.

Nicholas Synchro Summoned Visas Amritara and activated its effect to add Mannadium Reframing. He Set it, then ended his turn.

PJ drew to start his turn. He Set a monster and a back row and then ended his turn.

Nicholas drew a Fydraulis Harmonia for his turn. He went straight into his Main Phase and activated JJ “Kewl Tune” by Tributing his Visas, but was stopped by PJ’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! He ended his turn.

PJ drew and Normal Summoned DoomZ V Five – Amalthe, he activated it, but was stopped by Nicholas’ Effect Veiler. He then Flip Summoned Power Patron DoomZ. He activated Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron and destroyed his Power Patron and the Set Mannadium Reframing. PJ then activated the effects of Jupredo and Power Patron. He added Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus and DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea from his Deck to his hand. He activated Terminus and sent Jupredo from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard to add Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity. He activated Vidolium and used it to Special Summon Jupredo, then activated Vidolium’s effect and Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia from his Deck to his hand. 

PJ activated DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea’s effect to destroy his Amalthe, Special Summon Drastea, and equip it with DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G.” from his Deck. He then activated Jupredo’s effect, and Xyz Summoned Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction. He activated Jupiter’s effect and added back his Amalthe. PJ went into his Battle Phase, attacked with Jupiter, and then ended his turn.

Nicholas drew Infinite Impermanence, Set it, and ended his turn.

PJ went straight into his Battle Phase and attacked with all his monsters to become the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend and claim a Super Rare Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon prize card!
