Ismael Campos Altamirano from Mexico City and Salvador Molina Ochoa from Sinaloa, Mexico are facing off in the Top 8 of YCS Mexico City! Campos is the last Kozmo Duelist remaining in the tournament, and he’s facing off against Molina’s Metalfoes for a chance to Duel in the Top 4. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Campos opened up Duel 1 with Kozmoll Dark Lady, Kozmo Forerunner, Terraforming, Anti-Spell Fragrance, and Kozmo Delta Shuttle.

He activated Terraforming to add Fire King Island from his Deck to his hand and then activated it. He used its effect to destroy Forerunner from his hand and add Fire King Avatar Garunix from his Deck to his hand. Next, he banished Forerunner from his Graveyard to Special Summon Kozmo Sliprider from his Deck. He activated its effect to destroy his Fire King Island and then Island’s effect activated to destroy Sliprider. He banished Sliprider from his Graveyard to Special Summon Kozmo Strawman from his Deck in Defense Position and then paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect and Special Summon Forerunner from his Banished Zone. He Set Anti-Spell Fragrance and then entered his End Phase. In his End Phase, Forerunner was destroyed, and Campos banished it to Special Summon Kozmo Tincan from his Deck in Defense Position. He used Tincan’s effect and gave up 500 Life Points to reveal Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Dark Eclipser, and Kozmojo from his Deck. He randomly added Kozmojo to his hand and sent the other 2 cards to his Graveyard.

Molina drew a card and Campos flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance in his Standby Phase. Molina Special Summoned Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow from his hand and used its effect to Special Summon 2 Vague Shadow Tokens to his field. Next, he Tributed Gofu to Summon Vanity’s Fiend and attacked Kozmo Tincan to destroy it. He Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Campos drew Solemn Warning. He Tributed his Tincan to try to Summon Delta Shuttle, but Molina flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon. Campos Set Solemn Warning and Kozmojo before passing.

Molina tried to Normal Summoned Metalfoes Silverd and Campos flipped Solemn Warning to pay 2000 Life Points and negate its Summon. Molina attacked directly with Vanity’s Fiend next, dropping Campos down to 2600 Life Points. Molina Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Campos drew Call of the Haunted and Set it along with Garunix.

Molina Normal Summoned Metalfoes Goldriver and attacked Campos’s face-down Garunix with Vanity’s Fiend to destroy it. Goldriver attacked directly next, dropping Campos down to 700 Life Points.

Campos drew Kozmojo and Set it.

On the following turn, Molina attacked directly with Goldriver, ending the Duel!

Molina’s Vanity’s Fiend completely devastates Campos’s ability to make an effective play, allowing Molina to take the first victory!

Duel Two

Campos opened up Duel 2 with Kozmo Sliprider, Call of the Haunted, Twin Twisters, Kozmo Strawman, and Spell Shattering Arrow. He Normal Summoned Strawman and then Set Twin Twisters and Spell Shattering Arrow.

Molina activated Archfiend Eccentrick in his Pendulum Zone and Campos Chained the effect of his Strawman to banish it and Special Summon Sliprider from his hand. He used Sliprider’s effect to destroy the Eccentrick. Molina Set 4 cards to his back row and Set a monster before ending his turn.

Campos drew Fire King Avatar Garunix and then attacked Molina’s face-down Metalfoes Silverd to destroy it. Molina activated Metalfoes Counter and Special Summoned Metalfoes Volflame from his Deck in Attack Position. Campos Set Call of the Haunted in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn; but Molina destroyed the Call of the Haunted with Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.

Molina attacked Sliprider with Volflame and Campos flipped Twin Twisters and discarded Garunix to destroy Molina’s face-down Solemn Warning and Vanity’s Emptiness. Sliprider was destroyed in battle, and Campos banished it from the Duel to Special Summon Kozmo Tincan from his Deck with its effect. Molina Set a card to his back row before passing his turn. In the End Phase, Campos used Tincan’s effect and paid 500 Life Points to reveal Dark Destroyer, Dark Eclipser, and Forerunner from his Deck. He randomly added Dark Destroyer to his hand and sent the other 2 cards to his Graveyard. In the End Phase, Campos banished Tincan to Special Summon Dark Destroyer from his hand, and used Dark Destroyer’s effect to destroy Volflame.

Campos drew Dark Lady and then attacked directly with Dark Destroyer, dropping Molina down to 1500 Life Points. In his End Phase, Molina flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Molina’s face-down Spell Shattering Arrow, and Campos Chained the Arrow to inflict 500 points of damage to Molina.

Molina banished Metalfoes Counter from his Graveyard to add Silverd from his Extra Deck to his hand, and then activated Volflame in his other Pendulum Zone. He Pendulum Summon Volflame and Eccentrick from his Extra Deck, and then used the effect of the Volflame in the Pendulum Zone to destroy his Eccentrick and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. Next, he activated Silverd’s effect to destroy Volflame and Set another Metalfoes Counter from his Deck.

Campos drew Anti-Spell Fragrance. He attacked Volflame with Dark Destroyer to destroy it, and Molina flipped both copies of Metalfoes Counter to Special Summon Steelen from his Deck in Defense Position and Volflame from his Deck in Attack Position. Campos Set Anti-Spell Fragrance before passing.

Molina drew a card and Campos flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance. Molina switched Volflame into Defense Position and then banished Metalfoes Counter from his Graveyard to add Volflame from his Extra Deck to his hand.

Campos drew Kozmojo and then attacked Volflame to destroy it and send it to Molina’s Extra Deck. Campos Set Kozmojo before passing his turn.

Molina flipped Twin Twisters! He discarded Volflame from his hand to target Campos’s face-down Anti-Spell Fragrance and Kozmojo. Campos Chained Kozmojo and destroyed his Dark Destroyer to banish Metalfoes Counter from Molina’s Graveyard before Anti-Spell Fragrance was taken down by Twin Twisters. Next, Molina used the effect of Dark Destroyer to banish it from the Graveyard and Special Summon Sliprider. He used Sliprider’s effect to destroy the Silverd in Molina’s Pendulum Zone.

Campos drew Kozmo Tincan next turn. He attacked Steelen to destroy it and then Summoned Tincan in Main Phase 2. In the End Phase, he gave up 500 Life Points to activate Tincan’s effect and reveal Kozmotown, Forerunner, and Kozmo Landwalker from his Deck. He randomly added Forerunner to his hand and sent the other 2 cards to his Graveyard.

Molina drew a card and Campos activated the effect of Tincan by banishing it. Molina Chained Maxx “C”, and when Campos Special Summoned Dark Lady, Molina drew a card. But it was no help! Molina promptly conceded, overwhelmed by Campos’s cards.

The Match pressed into a third Duel!

Duel Three

Molina started off Duel 3 by activating Painful Decision to send Metalfoes Silverd from his Deck to his Graveyard and add another copy to his hand.

He activated Volflame in both of his Pendulum Zones and then used one of their effects to destroy the other one and Set Metalfoes Fusion from his Deck. Next, he activated Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer in his Pendulum Zone, and Campos activated Typhoon from his hand to destroy it. Molina activated Metalfoes Goldriver in his Pendulum Zone next, and Normal Summoned Silverd. He used the effect of Goldriver to destroy Silverd and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. He Pendulum Summoned Volflame, Silverd, and Luster Pendulum from his Extra Deck next, and then used Metalfoes Fusion to fuse Volflame and Silverd in order to Summon Metalfoes Orichalc. Next, he shuffled Metalfoes Fusion from his Graveyard into his Deck to draw a card. He Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Campos drew a card and then had Kozmojo, Twin Twisters, Kozmo Soartroopers, Kozmoll Dark Lady, and Solemn Strike in his hand. He activated Twin Twisters, discarding Dark Lady to destroy Molina’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon and the Volflame in his Pendulum Zone. Next, he Normal Summoned Soartroopers and activated its effect to Special Summon Kozmoll Dark Lady from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He attacked the Defense Position Luster Pendulum with Soartroopers to destroy it and send it to Molina’s Extra Deck, and Molina flipped Metalfoes Counter to Special Summon Volflame from his Deck in Attack Position. He Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Molina attacked Dark Lady with Volflame to destroy it, and then attacked Soartroopers with Orichalc; but Campos flipped Kozmojo and destroyed his own Soartroopers to banish Orichalc.

Molina banished Metalfoes Counter from his Graveyard to add Metalfoes Volflame to his hand next, and activated it in his Pendulum Zone. Next, he Pendulum Summoned a Volflame to the field in Attack Position and a Silverd to the field in Defense Position. He combined 2 Volflames to Xyz Summon Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon. He used Volflame’s effect to destroy his Absolute Dragon and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. Next, he activated his Absolute Dragon’s effect to try to Special Summon an Odd-Eyes monster; but Campos flipped Solemn Strike to negate it at the cost of 1500 Life Points. Molina Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Campos drew a Twin Twisters and conceded, about to be defeated by the Pendulum Summon Molina would perform on his next turn.
