Finals Feature Match: Dakota Clint Angeloff vs. Manav Dawar
It all comes down to this! One of these Duelist will walk away as a YCS Champion! Manav Dawar from Seattle, Washington, who placed 19th at the end of Swiss, is facing off against Dakota Angeloff from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who placed 5th at the end of Swiss. It’s Sky Striker vs. Sky Striker Trickstar in the YCS Finals. One of these players will earn an Ultra Rare version of Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker! Who will come out the victor and earn the title of YCS Champion? For the final time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Angeloff won the roll and elected to go first.
He started with a hand of Scapegoat, Trickstar Lilybell, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and 2 copies of Trickstar Lycoris. He started off by setting Trickstar Lilybell and Scapegoat and passed.
Dawar Set 5 cards to the back row then Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye. He then flipped one of the Set cards: Foolish Burial Goods to send Metalfoes Fusion to the Graveyard. Sky Striker Ace – Raye attacked the face-down Trickstar Lilybell, taking 500 damage. In Main Phase 2, Dawar used Sky Striker Ace – Raye to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He then activated the Set Sky Striker Mech – Jamming Waves! but Angeloff Chained Scapegoat. Dawar then activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards to draw 2 more. He then sent Metalfoes Fusion back to the Deck to draw another card. He Set the newly drawn card and in the End Phase, he used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand. He passed with 3 Set Spell/Traps and Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku.
Angeloff drew Droll & Lock Bird. He began Link Summoning by using 2 Sheep Tokens to Link Summon Space Insulator. Dawar took a second to read the card before allowing the Summon to go through. Next, Angeloff used another Sheep Token to Link Summon Linkuriboh. He then used both Link Monsters to Link Summon Topologic Trisbaena! Next, he used Linkuriboh’s effect, Tributing a Token to Special Summon Linkuriboh from the Graveyard. Dawar then activated the Set Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to take control of Angeloff’s Topologic Trisbaena. He activated 2 Trickstar Lycoris’ effects, returning Trickstar Lilybell to his hand to Special Summon both of them. He then used Linkuriboh and a Trickstar Lycoris to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix whose effect let him discard Droll & Lock Bird to destroy Topologic Trisbaena. Dawar Chained his Set Shared Ride.
Dawar drew and activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole to his hand then draw another card. Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku was used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and its effect let Dawar pick up Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! which was immediately activated to add Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to his hand and draw another card. He then used Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole, sending Kagari to the Graveyard. He then used Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to take control of Knightmare Cerberus. He then Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye and attacked with all 3 monsters, then he used Sky Striker Ace – Raye’s effect to tag out for Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku who also attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, he Set a card. In the End Phase he used Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole to Set Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! and Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Graveyard to his side of the field. He then used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.
Angeloff drew Trickstar Light Stage for turn. He activated it but Dawar Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Angeloff activated a second Trickstar Light Stage which added Trickstar Candina. He used Stage’s effect to freeze a face-down card, then Normal Summoned Trickstar Lilybell. He attacked directly using Lilybell’s effect but Dawar activated Infinite Impermanence to negate Trickstar Lilybell’s effect so it couldn’t attack directly. Angeloff conceded the game and we’re going to the second Duel where Dawar is one win away from a YCS Championship!
Duel 2
Angeloff elected for Dawar to go first. Dawar activated Pot of Desires, banishing 10 cards but was hit with Angeloff’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He then activated Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token which was used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari whose effect added Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones back to his hand. He then used Sky Striker Ace – Kagari to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He Set 2 cards to the back row and in the End Phase, he used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.
Angeloff started off with Terraforming to add Trickstar Light Stage from his Deck to his hand. He activated Trickstar Light Stage and added Trickstar Candina from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and added Trickstar Reincarnation from his Deck to his hand. Trickstar Candina attacked Dawar’s Shizuku and destroyed it by battle. Trickstar Lycoris tagged in, bringing Trickstar Candina back to his hand and Lycoris attacked directly. Angeloff Set 2 cards to the back row but Dawar hit them with Twin Twisters, discarding Infinite Impermanence to destroy Angeloff’s Set Trickstar Reincarnation and Scapegoat.
Dawar activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, adding Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! from his Deck to his hand and taking 400 damage from Trickstar Lycoris. He activated Afterburners to destroy Lycoris then used Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones to create a Token that was used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari whose effect added back Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from the Graveyard. Dawar activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand and draw him another card. Sky Striker Ace – Kagari attacked directly, leaving Angeloff at 6000 LP. In Main Phase 2, Sky Striker Ace – Kagari was sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. Dawar Set 2 cards to the back row then in the End Phase he activated Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero from his Deck to his hand.
Angeloff dree Trickstar Light Stage for turn. He activated it and added Trickstar Lycoris from his Deck to his hand. Trickstar Light Stage’s effect froze the face-down in the middle of the field. Angeloff then activated Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! to destroy Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and Dawar’s face-down Evenly Matched. Angeloff then Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and tried to use its effect but was shut down by Dawar’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Trickstar Candina attacked directly then he used both copies of Trickstar Lycoris in his hand to put enough damage on the field to force the third and decisive third Duel! Whoever wins this next Duel will be the YCS Secaucus Champion!
Duel 3
Dawar elected to go first.
He started with Upstart Goblin, drawing a card and giving Angeloff 1000 LP. He then Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye then Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He Set 2 cards to the back row and in the End Phase he used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.
Angeloff went straight into the Battle Phase and at the end of the Battle Phase he activated Evenly Matched from his hand. Dawar chose to keep Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku on the field and banished the 2 Set Spell/Traps face-down. Angeloff then activated his own Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! using its effect to add Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones from his Deck to his hand. He used Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Token which was used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari. He used Sky Striker Ace – Kagari’s effect to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Graveyard back to his hand. He activated the Spell again to add Sky Striker Maneuver – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand. He set 3 cards to his back row, swapped Sky Striker Ace – Kagari in for Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and in the End Phase, he used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mech – Jamming Waves! from his Deck to his hand.
Dawar activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero from his Deck to his hand. He went into the Battle Phase and had his Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku attack Angeloff’s. Angeloff activated Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to negate Dawar’s Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku, letting his own overpower Dawar’s. Dawar brought his Sky Striker Ace – Raye out of the Graveyard after Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku was destroyed in battle. In Main Phase 2 he activated Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero and targeted Sky Striker Ace – Raye, whose effect was Chained. He Special Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Kagari then added Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole for the Field’s effect, adding it to his hand. He activated Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole then activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! from his Deck to his hand. He then Set a card and used Multirole’s effect to protect his Spell card activations for the rest of the turn. Sky Striker – Mecha Hornet Drones was sent to the Graveyard. After the Chain resolved, Angeloff activated Twin Twisters, discarding Trickstar Lycoris to destroy Multirole and Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero. Angeloff activated Scapegoat to give himself 4 Sheep Tokens. Dawar then activated Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! to destroy Angeloff’s Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. In the End Phase Dawar used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand.
Angeloff used a Sheep Token to Link Summon Linkuriboh, then used another Token to Link Summon Link Spider. Then Link Spider and Sheep Token were used to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix. After the Summon, Dawar activated Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon to Special Summon the Sky Striker Ace – Kagari in Angeloff’s Graveyard. Angeloff drew a card to complete Phoenix’s effect. Next, he Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina but Dawar used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate the effect. He then used all of his monsters to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread! He used the effect to draw 4 cards and put 3 on the bottom of the Deck. He then activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards to draw 2 more. He had Saryuja Skull Dread attack into Kagari, destroying it and taking only 100 damage due to the Sky Striker effects. When Sky Striker Ace – Kagari was destroyed, Sky Striker Ace – Raye came back to the field. He Set 2 and passed.
Dawar Set one to the back row, then used Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari whose effect let Dawar add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero from his Graveyard back to his hand. Angeloff activated Trickstar Reincarnation to make Dawar banish his hand and draw 3 cards. Angeloff then activated a second Trickstar Reincarnation and Chained Droll & Lock Bird to make Dawar banish the other 3 cards and draw none in return. Life is Angeloff’s 9000 LP to Dawar’s 7600 LP. He used Sky Striker Ace – Raye and Sky Striker Ace – Kagari to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix. Without a way to get over Saryuja Skull Dread, Dawar extended the handshake!
