Only one Duelist can advance – it’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Foster won the die roll and played first. He started with Gouki Riscorpio and Instant Fusion, playing Invoked Raidjin. He Link Summoned Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights, and his two monster effects added Gouki Bearhug and Gouki Re-Match to his hand. Isolde’s second effect sent Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade to the Graveyard. Jones activated Infinite Impermanence from his hand, and Foster played Red Reboot from his own hand! Hand traps – literally. Jones’s Trap was negated, and he Set a second Infinite Impermanence on the field. Foster continued, and Isolde Special Summoned Gouki Octostretch. He Special Summoned Gouki Headbatt from his hand, combining Headbatt with Isolde for Summon Sorceress. Headbatt’s effect searched out Gouki Twistcobra, and the Sorceress Special Summoned Gouki Suprex. He combined Suprex and Octostretch to play Knightmare Goblin, and added another Octostretch and Suprex to his hand. He played Re-Match next, bringing both Gouki back to the field. He used Suprex with Summon Sorceress to play Firewall Dragon, and returned his Phoenix Blade to his hand. He used Goblin to play Knightmare Mermaid next. Firewall Special Summoned Suprex, and Mermaid discarded Phoenix Blade to Special Summon Knightmare Corruptor Iblee and draw a card. He took back Phoenix Blade, then used Iblee and Suprex for another Goblin. Its effect discarded Phoenix Blade, and Firewall Special Summoned Twistcobra. He used Octostretch and Twistcobra to play Underclock Taker. Firewall then used its effect to return Iblee and two Goukis from the Graveyard. Jones tried using Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, but Foster had Called by the Grave to shut it down! Jones knew it was over already, as Foster was only going to continue into more Link Summons!
Duel 2
Jones started this Duel with Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Terraforming, Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor, and Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. He led with Engage to find Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole. Terraforming was next, searching out Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero. He played Multirole and Area Zero, then Hornet Drones. He Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Kagari, returning Engage to his hand. He used Area Zero’s effect on Kagari, adding Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to his hand. Multirole then sent Area Zero to the Graveyard, and Area Zero Special Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye. He Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku, then played Engage again. He added Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster to his hand and draw another Widow Anchor. In the End Phase, he Set both Widow Anchors and Eagle Booster, and Multirole put Engage on the field. Shizuku searched out another Engage.
Foster began his turn with Engage as well, getting Hornet Drones. He activated it, then Normal Summoned Suprex, which Special Summoned Riscorpio. He used his Goukis to play Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights, and used his three searching effects to add Bearhug, Re-Match, and Headbatt to his hand. Isolde then sent Living Fossil to the Graveyard to Special Summon Octostretch. Foster discarded Bearhug to Special Summon Headbatt, using it and Isolde to play Summon Sorceress. He added Twistcobra to his hand with Headbatt. Jones flipped Widow Anchor to negate Summon Sorceress, and opted not to take control of it. Foster continued, using the Sky Striker Ace Token to play Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and get Engage back to his hand. Kagari and Octostretch were used to play Knightmare Goblin, and Octostretch’s effect searched out Suprex. He played Gouki Re-Match to bring back Octostretch and Headbatt. He used Headbatt and Summon Sorceress to play Firewall Dragon. He played Instant Fusion, and Fusion Summoned Invoked Raidjin. He used Raidjin and Octostretch to play Knightmare Phoenix, discarding Phoenix Blade to destroy Jones’s Set Engage. He returned Phoenix Blade to his hand, then used Phoenix to play Knightmare Mermaid. Firewall Special Summoned Twistcobra, and Mermaid discarded Phoenix Blade to Special Summon Knightmare Corruptor Iblee and draw a card. He used Iblee and Goblin to play another Goblin, discarding Engage for its effect. Firewall also Special Summoned Suprex. He Set The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine and immediately activated it, then returned Phoenix Blade. He used Shade Brigandine with Suprex and Twistcobra to play Knightmare Unicorn, discarding Phoenix Blade to get rid of Multirole and draw a card. Jones flipped Eagle Booster, targeting Shizuku. Foster also added Suprex to his hand with Twistcobra. Foster tried using Firewall’s effect to return some cards from his Graveyard, but Jones negated it with Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. Foster continued, using Mermaid and Unicorn to play Topologic Gumblar Dragon! Firewall Special Summoned Octostretch – that triggered Gumblar! Foster discarded Instant Fusion and Hornet Drones, forcing Jones to discard the last cards in his hand! Foster then used Firewall and Gumblar to play Tri-Gate Wizard, and activated Soul Charge! He may as well give up his Battle Phase this turn, since Jones had used Eagle Booster. Foster Special Summoned two Octostretch and Knightmare Phoenix. He used Octostretch to play Linkuriboh, and now Tri-Gate Wizard was co-linked with three monsters! It banished Jones’s Set Widow Anchor, leaving Jones with literally nothing but Shizuku on the field!
Jones drew Infinite Impermanence. He looked over his Graveyard for a long time, trying to find a way out of all this. He used Shizuku to Link Summon Kagari, targeting Engage. Foster negated and banished Kagari with Tri-Gate Wizard. Jones Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard, sending it to attack Linkuriboh (which was protected by Knightmare Phoenix). He then used Raye’s effect to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate, and it attacked directly. Its effect sent Multirole to the Graveyard. He Set Infinite Impermanence, then Link Summoned Shizuku. In the End Phase, Shizuku searched out Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon.
Tri-Gate Wizard targeted Infinite Impermanence, and Jones was unable to use it due to Knightmare Goblin. Foster added Phoenix Blade to his hand. He used Octostretch and Knightmare Goblin to play Underclock Taker, and Octostretch added Suprex to his hand. He Normal Summoned Suprex and equipped it with Phoenix Blade. He used Underclock to reduce Shizuku to 0 ATK, sending his Knightmare Phoenix to attack it and deal double damage thanks to Tri-Gate’s effect. Jones tried to Special Summon Raye, but Tri-Gate negated and banished it. His other monsters attacked, dealing a total of 8000 damage exactly!
Avery Foster is moving on to the the finals with Gouki!
