Carl Manigat from Long Island, New York is Dueling against Tyler Pfeifer from Reno, Nevada in the Finals of the UDS Invitational – Winter 2019 here in Las Vegas, Nevada! Salamangreats and Sky Strikers were the two big Decks of the weekend, and now they’re facing off against one another in a Match that will determine the winner. It’s time to decide who will go home with the Championship Belt and become the Ultimate Duelist. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Manigat won the die roll and chose to go first. He opened up with Salamangreat Gazelle, Salamangreat Spinny, Salamangreat Falco, Effect Veiler, and Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay.

He Summoned Spinny and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx. He used its effect and Chained the effect of the Gazelle in his hand to Special Summon Gazelle and add Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand. He used the Gazelle’s effect to send Salamangreat Roar from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Spinny from his Graveyard. He combined Spinny with Gazelle to Xyz Summon Salamangreat Miragestallio and activated its effect by detaching Gazelle, but lost out to Infinite Impermanence. Next, he sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and activated the Sanctuary. He Link Summoned a new Sunlight Wolf by using the one on his field as a Link Material and then added Roar from his Graveyard to his hand with the new Sunlight Wolf’s effect. He Set it and passed.

Pfeifer activated Terraforming to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero to his hand and then used Foolish Burial Goods to send Metalfoes Fusion from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to target Sunlight Wolf next, and Manigat negated its activation by Chaining Roar. Pfeifer Summoned Raye next. He used Area Zero to target it, and Chained Raye’s effect to Special Summon Hayate. He added Sky Striker Maneuver – Jamming Waves! to his hand and Manigat Special Summoned Fantastical Dragon from his hand. He drew 2 cards and shuffled one back into his Deck. Next, Pfeifer shuffled Metalfoes Fusion from his Graveyard into his Deck to draw a card. He attacked directly with Hayate and used Hayate’s effect to send Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from Pfeifer’s Deck to his Graveyard. In Main Phase 2, he Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and used its effect to try to return Engage to his hand; but Manigat Chained Effect Veiler from his hand to negate its effect. Next, Pfeifer activated Multirole. He Link Summoned Kaina next, and used its effect to stop Fantastical Dragon from attacking on the next turn. Then, he sent Kaina to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He added Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon to his hand with Shizuku’s effect in the End Phase and activated it to banish Spinny from Manigat’s Graveyard. Then, he used Multirole’s effect to Set Widow Anchor from his Graveyard.

Manigat drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and then activated Salamangreat Circle. Pfeifer Chained Widow Anchor to try to negate Sunlight Wolf’s effect, and Manigat Chained his Fantastical Dragon’s effect to negate the Widow Anchor by discarding Falco. Manigat added Salamangreat Fowl to his hand with the effect of Circle and Special Summoned Gazelle from his hand since Falco was sent to the Graveyard. Manigat used his Gazelle’s effect and Chained the effect of Fowl to Special Summon it from his hand. He sent Salamangreat Foxy to his Graveyard with the effect of the Gazelle and then returned the Gazelle to his hand to Special Summon Falco from his Graveyard. He then returned Circle from his Graveyard to his hand with Sunlight Wolf’s effect. He combined Falco and Fowl to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and then detached Fowl from it to activate its effect. He discarded Circle from his hand to Special Summon Foxy from his Graveyard and destroyed Area Zero with Foxy’s effect. He sent Sunlight Wolf and Foxy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo next, and used its effect to return Multirole Couch’s Deck. Then, he used Heatleo as a Link Material to Summon a different Heatleo thanks to Sanctuary, and used Heatleo’s effect to make Shizuku’s ATK equal to 0. Manigat Set Roar from his Graveyard and attacked directly with his Heatleo and Dweller, dropping Pfeifer down to 4500 Life Points.

Pfeifer activated Jamming Waves and Manigat negated its activation by Chaining his Roar. Pfeifer Summoned Raye next and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Kagari. He used its effect to return Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to his hand and activated it, but lost out to Manigat’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Pfeifer attacked Dweller with Kagari, prompting Manigat to use its effect. Kagari destroyed Dweller, and Manigat Set Circle from his Graveyard with Falco’s effect. Pfeifer Link Summoned Shizuku next, and used its effect in the End Phase to add Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! to his hand. Still in the End Phase, he used Twin Twisters to try to destroy Manigat’s Sanctuary and face-down Salamangreat Circle, but Manigat banished Balelynx from his Graveyard to protect the Sanctuary.

Manigat Summoned Gazelle on his next turn and used its effect to send Spinny from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned it to the field and then combined Spinny and Gazelle to Xyz Summon Miragestallio. He detached Gazelle from it to Special Summon Jack Jaguar from his Deck and then returned Jack Jaguar to his hand to Special Summon Falco from his Graveyard. He discarded Jack Jaguar to Special Summon Foxy from his Graveyard next and then Special Summoned Jack Jaguar back from his Graveyard. He sent Miragestallio and Foxy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sunlight Wolf next, and used the effect of the Miragestallio to return Shizuku to the Extra Deck, allowing Pfeifer to Special Summon Raye from his Graveyard. Manigat used his Heatleo to Link Summon a new Heatleo next, and then attacked Raye with Heatleo. Pfeifer Tributed Raye to try to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace monster, but upon realizing that none of them could save him, he conceded.

Duel Two

Pfeifer started off Duel 2 by activating Upstart Goblin to give Manigat 1000 Life Points and draw a card. He Summoned Raye next and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. Manigat Special Summoned Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay from his hand and used its effect to draw 2 cards and shuffle a card from his hand back into his Deck. Next, Pfeifer Set a card to his back row. He activated Shizuku’s effect in the End Phase, but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Manigat drew a card and then had Salamangreat Gazelle, Jack Jaguar, Salamangreat Rage, and 2 copies of Lady Debug in his hand. He Summoned a Lady Debug and used its effect to add Salamangreat Spinny to his hand. Next, he sent Debug to the Graveyard to Link Summon Balelynx and activated its effect to add Sanctuary from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Spinny to increase the ATK of Phantazmay and then activated the effect of Gazelle in his hand. Pfeifer Chained Summon Limit, preventing Manigat from Special Summoning the Gazelle and keeping it in his hand. Manigat Set Salamangreat Rage before ending his turn.

Pfeifer used Shizuku to Link Summon Hayate and then attacked directly with Hayate; but Manigat flipped Rage and sent his Balelynx to the Graveyard to destroy Hayate. Pfeifer used Raye’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard and Manigat Special Summoned Gazelle from his hand. Manigat used his Gazelle’s effect to send Salamangreat Foxy from his Deck to his Graveyard. Pfeifer Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Manigat drew Lady Debug and then discarded Jack Jaguar to try to Special Summon Foxy; but Pfeifer Chained D.D. Crow to banish the Foxy! Manigat Normal Summoned Lady Debug next and activated its effect. Pfeifer Chained Effect Veiler, but Manigat discarded Sanctuary to activate Phantazmay’s effect and negate the Veiler. Pfeifer Chained Raye’s effect by Tributing it, and then Chained Widow Anchor to target Phantazmay and negate its effect. Pfeifer Special Summoned Hayate and Debug’s effect was negated. Phantazmay attacked and destroyed Hayate, and Hayate’s effect sent Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from Pfeifer’s Deck to his Graveyard. Pfeifer Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard with its effect, and Lady Debug destroyed it. Pfeifer couldn’t use Raye’s effect to Special Summon an Ace monster due to the effect of the Summon Limit on his field. Gazelle attacked directly next, and Manigat ended his turn.

Pfeifer activated Foolish Burial Goods to send Metalfoes Fusion to his Graveyard and then activated Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token to the field. He used the Token to Link Summon Kagari and used Kagari to return Engage to his hand. He activated Engage to add Widow Anchor to his hand and draw a card. Next, he shuffled Metalfoes Fusion from his Graveyard into his Deck to draw a card. Pfeifer attacked Lady Debug with Kagari to destroy it and then Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Manigat drew another Gazelle and Normal Summoned Lady Debug. He activated its effect, and Pfeifer Chained Widow Anchor, targeting the Debug. Manigat discarded Gazelle to Chain the effect of Phantazmay and negate the Widow Anchor. He used the Debug’s effect to add Falco from his Deck to his hand and then sent Debug and Gazelle to the Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix. He activated its effect by discarding Falco and destroyed Summon Limit. He used Falco’s effect to Set Rage from his Graveyard and then ended his turn. In the End Phase, Pfeifer used Heavy Storm Duster to destroy Manigat’s face-down Rage and his own face-down Metalfoes Fusion.

Pfeifer drew a card, and with only Kagari on Pfeifer’s field, Manigat conceded, frustrated with how his last turn had played out.

The Match is moving on to a third and final Duel of the tournament!

Duel Three

Manigat opened up Duel 3 with 2 copies of Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, Salamangreat Gazelle, Lady Debug, and Salamangreat Sanctuary.

He Summoned Lady Debug and activated its effect, but lost out to Pfeifer’s Infinite Impermanence. Manigat sent Debug to the Graveyard to Link Summon Balelynx and then activated Sanctuary. He sent Balelynx to the Graveyard to Link Summon another one and then Special Summoned Gazelle from his hand. He used its effect, but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He Link Summoned Sunlight Wolf next, and then ended his turn.

Pfeifer Set 2 cards to his back row and then activated Terraforming to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero from his Deck to his hand. He flipped Upstart Goblin to draw a card and give Manigat 1000 Life Points and then flipped Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole. He activated Area Zero next and then used Multirole to send Area Zero to the Graveyard. He used Area Zero’s effect to Special Summon Raye from his Deck and then sent Raye to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hayate. When he did, Manigat Special Summoned Phantazmay from his hand linked to Sunlight Wolf. He drew 2 cards and returned a card to his Deck and then used Sunlight Wolf’s effect to try to return Gazelle to his hand, but Pfeifer banished it with D.D. Crow. Pfeifer attacked directly with Hayate and used its effect to send Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to his Graveyard and then Link Summoned Kagari. He used Kagari’s effect to return Engage to his hand and then activated Engage to add Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. He activated Reinforcement of the Army to add a Raye to his hand next, and then sent Kagari to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He Set a card to his back row and then added Eagle Booster from his Deck to his hand in the End Phase with Shizuku’s effect. He then activated Eagle Booster targeting Shizuku, and used Multirole’s effect to Set Eagle Booster, Engage, and Area Zero from his Graveyard to his field.

Manigat Normal Summoned Foxy sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Balelynx linked to Shizuku. He then used Foxy’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard by discarding Salamangreat Roar, and used Foxy’s effect to destroy Multirole. He sent Sunlight Wolf to the Graveyard to Link Summon another Sunlight Wolf using his Sanctuary next, and used Sunlight Wolf’s effect to try to add Salamangreat Roar from his Graveyard to his hand; but Pfeifer Chained Widow Anchor and targeted Sunlight Wolf to negate its effect and take control of it. Manigat sent Balelynx and Phantazmay to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze next, and used its effect to Special Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to his field. He then combined it with Foxy to Xyz Summon Miragestallio and used its effect to Special Summon Gazelle from his Deck. He used Gazelle’s effect to send Falco from his Deck to his Graveyard and then used Falco’s effect to Set Roar from his Graveyard to his field. He sent Miragestallio and Hiita to the Graveyard next, in order to Link Summon Heatleo, and he used Heatleo’s effect to remove a face-down Engage from Pfeifer’s field. He sent Gazelle and Heatleo to the Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix and activated its effect by discarding Foxy, destroying a face-down Eagle Booster. In the End Phase, he regained control of his Sunlight Wolf.

Pfeifer flipped up his Area Zero and then activated Terraforming to add an Area Zero from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card and used Area Zero’s effect to destroy his Set Hornet Drones and add a Multirole to his hand. He activated the Multirole and then sent Shizuku to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hayate linked to Sunlight Wolf. Manigat used his Sunlight Wolf’s effect to return a Gazelle to his hand. Hayate attacked directly and then sent an Engage from Pfeifer’s Deck to his Graveyard. In Main Phase 2, Pfeifer sent Hayate to the Graveyard to Link Summon Kagari and tried to use its effect; but he lost out to Salamangreat Roar, which negated the activation and destroyed Kagari. Pfeifer Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard and then used Raye to Link Summon Kaina. He used Kaina’s effect to prevent Knightmare Phoenix from attacking on the following turn and then activated another Area Zero. He used Kaina as a Link Material to Summon Shizuku next, and then used Shizuku’s effect and Multirole’s effect in the End Phase. He added Shark Cannon to his hand with Shizuku’s effect in the End Phase, and used Shark Cannon to banish Spinny. Time was called during the End Phase, and with Pfeifer up 8000 Life Points to 6000 Life Points, he was declared the winner of the Duel, the Match, and the tournament!
