Welcome to Round 3! This is the first round for the Very Important Players which entered the tournament with a 2-round bye. Paulo Roberto Goncalves da Silva is one of our VIP’s and he’s made the long trip from Brazil! He’s a multiple-time YCS Champion and here’s here with Salamangreat. His opponent is Brendon Wai Hung Siow from Seattle, Washington playing a very interesting Deck centered around Fairy Tail – Luna, Kaiju monsters and a lineup of hand traps to keep the opponent from making an unbreakable field. For good measure, there’s also an amount of Sky Striker cards in there too. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Goncalves da Silva won the roll and elected to go first. He started with Salamangreat Circle adding Salamangreat Spinny from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Cynet Mining, discarding Salamangreat Spinny and adding Salamangreat Gazelle from his Deck to his hand, then Goncalves da Silva activate Gazelle’s effect, Special Summoning it and using its other effect to send Salamangreat Roar from his Deck to the Graveyard. Goncalves da Silva then Special Summoned Backup Secretary from his hand, then used Salamangreat Spinny’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard. Gazelle went to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Baelynx. Salamangreat Baelynx’s effect added Salamangreat Sanctuary from his Deck to his hand. Backup Secretary and Salamangreat Spinny were used to Xyz Summon Salamangreat Miragestallio. Miragestallio’s effect Special Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from the Deck. Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and Salamangreat Baelynx were used to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. Next, Salamangreat Jack Jaguar came out of the Graveyard and Goncalves da Silva added the Salamangreat Circle in his Graveyard back to his hand. Both monsters were used for another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, which triggered  Salamangreat Roar to Set itself back to the field. He Set Salamangreat Circle and passed.

Siow Tributed Goncalves da Silva’s Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to give Goncalves da Silva a Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju! Next, he Normal Summoned Fairy Tail – Luna! He used Luna’s effect, Goncalves da Silva chained Effect Veiler from his hand, but Siow chained the other effect, returning Luna and Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju back to his hand! Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju came down again, this time Tributing Goncalves da Silva’s Salamangreat Miragestallio! He then Special Summoned Tenyi Spirit – Vishuda! He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Monk of the Tenyi! He then used Tenyi Spirit – Vishuda’s effect in the Graveyard to bounce Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju back to his hand again! Siow considered his plays then attacked with Monk directly. In the End Phase, Goncalves da Silva activated the Set Salamangreat Circle, adding Salamangreat Falco from his Deck to his hand.

Goncalves da Silva drew Sea Archiver for turn. He Normal Summoned Salamangreat Falco then sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon another Salamangreat Baelynx. He activated Salamangreat Gazelle from is hand, Special Summoning it and used its effect to send Salamangreat Rage from the Deck to the Graveyard. Falco came out of the Graveyard by returning Gazelle to his hand. Then Spinny came out of the Graveyard, then Sea Archiver was Special Summoned from Goncalves da Silva’s hand in Defense Position. Sea Archiver and Salamangreat Spinny were used to Xyz Summon Salamangreat Miragestallio! Miragestallio’s effect let Goncalves da Silva Special Summon another Salamangreat Foxy from the Deck. Mirage and Salamangreat Baelynx were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. The Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf in Goncalves da Silva’s Graveyard went back to the Deck to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from the Graveyard. Spinny came back to Goncalves da Silva’s hand from the Graveyard with Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf’s effect. Salamangreat Sanctuary came down next, then Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf traded out for another one with the Field Spell’s effect. Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf’s effect added Salamangreat Rage from the Graveyard back to his hand. In the Battle Phase, Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf attacked over Monk of the Tenyi and the rest of Goncalves da Silva’s monsters attacked directly, leaving Siow at 4200 LP. In Main Phase 2, Goncalves da Silva used Falco and Jack Jaguar to Xyz Summon Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir in Defense Position. Goncalves da Silva then used Foxy and Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo. Foxy’s effect let Goncalves da Silva discard Spinny and Special Summon Foxy from the Graveyard. Foxy was sent to Link Summon Salamangreat Baelynx. Goncalves da Silva Set Salamangreat Rage and passed.

Siow Special Summoned Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju Tributing Salamangreat Heatleo in Defense Position. Siow then activated Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones. He used the Token to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari. He activated Sky Striker Ace – Kagari’s effect, but Goncalves da Silva chained Salamangreat Roar to negate it. Siow then activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, adding Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! to his hand. He activated Afterburners to destroy Goncalves da Silva’s Number 41. Falco’s effect let Goncalves da Silva Set Salamangreat Circle form his Graveyard. Siow then Normal Summoned Fairy Tail – Luna, adding another copy to his hand. He then activated Instant Fusion, going down to 3200 LP, Special Summoing Thousand-Eyes Restrict to absorb Salamangreat Baelynx. But Goncalves da Silva chained Salamangreat Rage, sending Salamangreat Baelynx to the Graveyard to destroy Siow’s Fairy Tail – Luna but Siow chained Luna’s other effect to bounce it and Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju again. Thousand-Eyes turned into Linkuriboh which attacked directly for 300.

Goncalves da Silva drew Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay for turn. He activated the Set Salamangreat Circle, adding Salamangreat Spinny from his Deck to his hand. He activated Foxy’s effect in the Graveyard, discarding Spinny to Special Summon Foxy. He Special Summoned Gazelle then used Spinny from the Graveyard to Special Summon it. Falco’s effect bounced Gazelle to Special Summon Falco from the Graveyard. Foxy and Spinny were used for Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze! Hitta’s effect tried to Special Summon Siow’s Sky Striker Ace – Kagari but Siow chained Effect Veiler to negate the effect! Goncalves da Silva then Normal Summoned Gazelle, then Special Summoned Sea Archiver from the Graveyard. Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze and Falco were sent to Link Summon another Salamangreat Heatleo. Salamangreat Jack Jaguar then came out of the Graveyard, then Goncalves da Silva used the effect of Salamangreat Sanctuary for a Reincarnation Link Summon of Salamangreat Heatleo but Siow opted to concede and go to the second Duel.

Duel 2

Siow opted to go second. Goncalves da Silva started off with Cynet Mining, discarding Cosmic Cyclone to add Salamangreat Gazelle from his Deck to his hand. Goncalves da Silva then Normal Summoned Salamangreat Foxy. He used the effect, adding Salamangreat Roar from the top 3 cards of his Deck to his hand. He then sent Foxy to the Graveyard for Salamangreat Baelynx. He used its effect and Gazelle’s effect to Special Summon Gazelle and add Salamangreat Sanctuary from his Deck to his hand. Gazelle’s effect sent Salamangreat Rage from the Deck to the Graveyard. Goncalves da Silva Special Summoned Backup Secretary which was used with Gazelle to Xyz Summon Salamangreat Miragestallio! Its effect Special Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar form the Deck. Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and Salamangreat Baelynx were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He activated Sanctuary, then sent Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf for another one, then used Salamangreat Jack Jaguar’s effect to Special Summon it behind Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf’s effect activated, Siow chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and Goncalves da Silva protect it by banishing Salamangreat Baelynx from the Graveyard. Goncalves da Silva added Gazelle back to his hand. Goncalves da Silva then added Rage back to his hand. Salamangreat Jack Jaguar went to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Baelynx. He Set Rage, Roar and Mystical Space Typhoon and passed.

Siow Special Summoned Dinowrestler Pankratops. He then activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10. Goncalves da Silva negated it with Salamangreat Roar. Siow then activated Mind Control, targeting Goncalves da Silva’s Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf which went over to Siow’s side of the field. Pankratops attacked Goncalves da Silva’s Salamangreat Miragestallio. But Goncalves da Silva activated Rage, sending Salamangreat Baelynx to destroy Dinowrestler Pankratops. Siow chained the Dino’s effect to destroy Salamangreat Miragestallio which Goncalves da Silva protected by banishing Salamangreat Baelynx form the Graveyard. Siow passed back Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf back to Goncalves da Silva in the End Phase.

Goncalves da Silva used Salamangreat Miragestallio’s effect again, Special Summoning Salamangreat Spinny from the Deck. Spinny was sent to Link Summon Salamangreat Baelynx. Gazelle was Special Summoned, and its effect sent Falco from the Deck to the Graveyard. Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf’s effect added Salamangreat Roar from the Graveyard back to his hand. Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Salamangreat Baelynx were used to Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo. Salamangreat Jack Jaguar came out of the Graveyard, then Spinny followed. Goncalves da Silva then used Sanctuary’s effect to Reincarnation Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo. Heatleo’s effect made Spinny 2300 ATK. He then Normal Summoned Flame Bufferlo and Siow extended the handshake!
