We’re about to begin the final round of Day 1! Sam Arunnaveesiri is here from Toronto, ON, playing the always dangerous Cyber Dragon strategy. He’s facing Avery Foster, from San Antonio, TX, using a Danger! Orcust strategy.

Duel 1

Foster won the dice roll and chose to play second. Arunnaveesiri started with a hand of two Cybernetic Overflow, Cyber Emergency, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Cyber Dragon Vier. He played Emergency to get Cyber Dragon Core. He Normal Summoned Core and used the effect of Vier to Special Summon it as well. Core’s effect added Cyber Repair Plant to his hand. He used both monsters to play Cyber Dragon Sieger, and Set both copies of Overflow to finish the turn.

Foster Special Summoned Tenyi Spirit – Vishuda, and used it to play Monk of the Tenyi. Vishuda banished from the Graveyard to bounce a Set Overflow. Next, Foster used Danger!? Tsuchinoko?, discarding itself. Foster Special Summoned Tsuchinoko and drew a card. He used Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson from his hand, targeting Tsuchinoko, and Synchro Summoned Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing! It used its effect to destroy itself and Arunnaveesiri’s Set Cybernetic Overflow – Arunnaveesiri Chained Overflow. He banished Vier from his Graveyard to destroy the Monk with Overflow, then Yazi destroyed itself and Overflow. Yazi’s effect in the Graveyard activated, and Arunnaveesiri chose not to activate his Overflow. Instead, he used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate Yazi. Foster ended the turn by playing Mystic Mine.

Arunnaveesiri played Cyber Repair Plant to search for Core. He Set Overflow and passed, stuck under Mystic Mine for now.

Foster passed.

Arunnaveesiri drew Unending Nightmare and Set it.

Foster passed.

Arunnaveesiri drew Infinite Impermanence. He flipped Overflow, then used Unending Nightmare as Chain Link 2 to destroy Overflow and get its secondary effect as well! Foster conceded, knowing he wouldn’t survive with Mystic Mine gone and his Life Points halved from Destrudo.

Duel 2

Foster chose to play second again this time. Arunnaveesiri opened with a hand of Cyber Emergency, Lost Wind, Solemn Strike, Storming Mirror Force, and Unending Nightmare. He used Emergency to get Cyber Dragon Core which he used to get Cybernetic Overflow. He Set all five of his Trap Cards.

Foster Special Summoned Dinowrestler Pankratops and attacked Core. Then, he tributed Pankratops to destroy Solemn Strike. He Set one back row card. Arunnaveesiri flipped Cybernetic Overflow, then Unending Nightmare to destroy it like before. Foster played Twin Twisters from his hand, discarding Mare Mare to destroy Unending Nightmare and Storming Mirror Force. The Nightmare failed to resolve, then Overflow then banished Core to destroy Foster’s Set card: another Twin Twisters.

Arunnaveesiri drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Foster played Vishuda, Link Summoned Monk of the Tenyi, then banished Vishuda to bounce Lost Wind. He played Instant Fusion for Thousand-Eyes Restrict, then used both monsters to Link Summon Knightmare Cerberus. He used Cerberus to play Knightmare Mermaid, discarding Danger!? Jackalope?, and Arunnaveesiri negated Mermaid with Ash Blossom. Jackalope Special Summoned Danger! Nessie! in Defense Position.

Arunnaveesiri drew Cyber Dragon Herz! He used it with Foster’s Knightmare Mermaid to play Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon! Herz then added Cyber Dragon to his hand. He Set Lost Wind.

Foster passed.

Arunnaveesiri drew another Herz. He played it, using Herz and Megafleet to play Cyber Dragon Sieger. Herz added another Herz to his hand. Sieger used its effect to help it destroy Nessie in battle.

Foster passed.

Arunnaveesiri drew Solemn Strike and Set it. He played Herz and attacked with it, then attacked with Sieger.

Foster passed again.

Arunnaveesiri drew Cyber Emergency! He played it to add Core to his hand, and Foster offered the handshake.

Sam Arunnaveesiri and his Cyber Dragons emerge victorious!
