Now, they’re Dueling against one another in a Match that will pit Dawar’s Sky Strikers against Vargas’s Thunder Dragons. It’s a battle of titans in this final Feature Match for Day 1. Let’s Duel!

Duel One

Dawar opened up Duel 1 with 3 copies of Sky Striker Ace – Raye, Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!, and Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.

He Summoned Raye and activated Multirole. Then, he sent Raye to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and entered his End Phase. He used Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to his hand and then activated Widow Anchor to target Shizuku. By doing so, he was able to activate Multirole to try to Set the Widow Anchor from his Graveyard; but he lost out when Vargas used Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy Multirole!

Vargas used Instant Fusion and paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Kaminari Attack from his Extra Deck and then banished it from his field along with a Thunder Dragonroar from his hand to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Titan linked to Shizuku. He Special Summoned Thunder Dragonmatrix from his Deck with Dragonroar’s effect and then discarded Thunder Dragon to add another from his Deck to his hand. Then he discarded that one to get the third. Vargas activated Pot of Desires next, banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down to draw 2 cards. He Tributed Dragonmatrix to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus and then used his Dragonmatrix’s effect to add another copy from his Deck to his hand. He activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Thunder Dragonhawk from his Deck next, and used its effect to shuffle 2 cards from his hand back into his Deck and draw 2 new cards. Next, Vargas banished Colossus from his field and Dragondark from his hand to Special Summon another Titan from his Extra Deck. He used Dragondark’s effect to add Thunder Dragon Fusion from his Deck to his hand and then Normal Summoned Thunder Dragonmatrix. He sent Thunder Dragonmatrix and a Titan to his Graveyard to Link Summon Some Summer Summoner and then used Thunder Dragon Fusion to shuffle Colossus and Thunder Dragon back into his Deck and Special Summon a Colossus linked to his Summoner. He Tributed the Summoner to Special Summon another Colossus next, and then attacked and destroyed Shizuku with Titan. Dawar Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard with its effect, and Vargas attacked and destroyed it with Colossus. Vargas attacked directly with his other Colossus, dropping Vargas down to 3900 Life Points.

Dawar drew PSY-Frame Driver and then Normal Summoned Raye. He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kaina and used its effect to target Titan. Next, he sent Kaina to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate and attacked directly, dropping Vargas down to 5500 Life Points. He sent Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero to his Graveyard with Hayate’s effect and then Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Kagari in Main Phase 2. He used Kagari’s effect to return Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to his hand. He activated Afterburners to target a Colossus for destruction, but Vargas banished Thunder Dragon from his Graveyard to protect it. Dawar Set Widow Anchor before passing.

Vargas banished Thunder Dragon Fusion from his Graveyard to add Denko Sekka from his Deck to his hand, prompting Dawar to flip Widow Anchor and take control of a Colossus. Next, Vargas discarded Thunder Dragonhawk from his hand to Special Summon Thunder Dragonroar from his banished zone and then Tributed the Dragonroar to Summon Colossus. He used Dragonroar’s effect to Special Summon another copy from his Deck and then attacked Kagari with a Colossus to destroy it and inflict 700 points of damage to Dawar’s Life Points. Vargas ended his turn, returning the Dragonroar from his field to his hand and regaining control of his Colossus.

Dawar drew PSY-Framegear Gamma, adding it to his hand of PSY-Frame Driver and Raye, and conceded.

A weak draw for Manav Dawar allows Gabriel Vargas to make short work of his fellow World Championship competitor in Duel 1. Dawar will be going first in Duel 2!

He Set Widow Anchor, Infinite Impermanence, and Solemn Judgment and then sent Kagari to the Graveyard to Link Summon Shizuku. In the End Phase, he tried to use Multirole’s effect, but lost out to Vargas’s Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit once again, and he added Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand with Shizuku’s effect. He returned a Thunder Dragon and Thunder Dragondark from his Graveyard and banished zone respectively to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus linked to Shizuku and then attacked Shizuku with Colossus to destroy it. Dawar lost 700 Life Points and Special Summoned Raye back to his field. Denko Sekka attacked Raye, and Dawar activated its effect by Tributing it to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kaina from his Extra Deck. He used Kaina’s effect to target Denko Sekka and Vargas Special Summoned Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay from his Deck! He drew 2 cards and returned 1 card from his hand to his Deck, and then attacked and destroyed Kaina with Phantazmay.
