YCS Portland: Who to Watch

August 24th, 2019

Our coverage of last week’s UDS Invitational included a new feature called “Who to Watch” where we showcased some of the accomplished players that were in attendance, and it was very well received!  We’ll be continuing that here at YCS Portland.  Check it out!

Aaron Chase Furman is a YCS and UDS Champion, as well as a World Championship competitor.  His win at the UDS Invitational Summer 2016 allows him free entry into any Regional Qualifer and YCS, as well as automatic VIP privileges at all YCS’s where the Ultimate Duelist Series is run, these privileges include a 2-round Bye.

Esala Wathuthantrige is no stranger to the top tables.  He won his way to the World Championship in 2017 in the World Points Qualifying list, and he also repeated that feat in 2018.  He’s in our VIP section this weekend, and while he doesn’t yet have a YCS Championship to his name, his accomplishments speak to his talent.

Paulo Roberto Goncalves da Silva is here from Brazil!  He’s a multiple-time YCS Champion and a UDS Champion!

Ryan Murakami won the UDS Invitational Winter 2016.  He’s been away from high level competition for a bit, but he should never be discounted!

Dominic Couch took 2nd place at YCS Knoxville this year and placed in the Top 8 of the UDS Invitational Winter 2019.

Manav Dawar won the 200th YCS in Columbus, Ohio and qualified is a 2019 World Championship competitor.

Ed Acepcion placed in the Top 8 of the UDS Invitational Winter 2018 with Magical Musket.  His ability to find success with rogue Decks makes him a threat in any tournament he enters.

Walter Jule made it to the Finals of the 2018 North America WCQ, qualifying for and competing in the World Championship that year.

Wei Li is a 2019 World Championship competitor, taking 3rd place at the 2019 North America World Championship Qualifier.

Brian Rayos is a World Championship competitor, making Top 4 at the 2018 North America WCQ.  He also made Top 16 at YCS Dallas 2017 in a sea full of SPYRAL Decks.

Doug Zeeff made it to the Top 4 of last week’s UDS Invitational Summer 2019, using Altergeist after one of their key cards, Altergeist Multifaker, was placed on the Limited list.

There’s many more players here with Regional and YCS success that aren’t mentioned here.  The Yu-G-Oh! Championship Series attracts Duelists of the highest caliber to test their meddle against the best!

Stay tuned for more updates from YCS Portland!
