Dragon Duel Championship Playoff: Jonathan Roger Murphy Lierman vs. Levi Baloch
This is it! After 2 days of Dragon Duels, Saturday’s winner and Sunday’s winner will face-off for the title of Dragon Duel Champion! The winner will get a championship trophy and previous YCS Prize Cards Darklord Asmodeus, Darklord Superbia and Darklord Edeh Arae. Jonathan Lierman is from London, Ontario and has True Draco, while his opponent, Levi Baloch is from Mississauga, Ontario and has Gouki Orcust! Which of these talented Duelists will become a champion? We’re about to find out! It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Lierman won the roll and elected to go first. He started with setting 2 cards to the back then activated Terraforming to add Dragonic Diagram from his Deck to his hand. He activated it, then activated its effect, destroying True Draco Heritage from his hand to add another True Draco Heritage from his Deck to his hand. He activated it, then Tributed it to Tribute Summon Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior.
Baloch activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, adding Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated a second Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! and Lierman chained Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior to activate Disciples of the True Dracophoenix directly from the Deck. Baloch then Special Summoned Junk Forward and activated Instant Fusion, paying down to 7000 LP to Special Summon Invoked Raidjin and used its effect to turn Lierman’s Ignis Heat face-down. Invoked Raijin and Junk Forward were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights. Baloch activated Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effect, then Lierman activated True Draco Apocalypse and destroyed his own True Draco Heritage. True Draco Heritage’s Graveyard effect destroyed True Draco Apocalypse then True Draco Apocalypse’s Graveyard effect tried to destroy Baloch’s Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights but Baloch chained Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster from his hand to make Isolde unaffected by card effects. Baloch resolved Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effect and added Gouki Riscorpio form his Deck to his hand. Baloch then used Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s other effect, sending Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade from the Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon Gouki Octostretch from the Deck. He banished Raijin and another Warrior from the GY to bring the Divine Sword back to his hand, then used Octostretch and Isolde to Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn. Its effect let Baloch discard the Divine Sword to send Lierman’s other Set card to the Deck which Lierman chained: Waterfalls of Dragon Souls which added Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter from his Deck to his hand. Baloch then activated Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones to make a Token then Unicorn swapped for Knightmare Mermaid discarding Gouki Riscorpio to Special Summon Orcust Knightmare from his Deck. Mermaid and Orcust Knightmare turned into a Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, then activated D.D.R. – Different Dimension Reincarnation, discarding Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to Special Summon Invocation back to the field! All 4 monsters were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Borrelsword Dragon! Orcust Knightmare was banished, targeting Borrelsword Dragon, sending Orcust Cymbal Skeleton from the Deck to the Graveyard, and its effect banished itself to bring back Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. Galatea turned into a Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star, which sent Lierman’s Set Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior then in the Battle Phase, Borrelsword Dragon attacked directly, then Dingirsu attacked, then Borrelsword Dragon’s effect turned Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star to Defense Position to allow the Link Monster a second attack that ended the first Duel!
Duel 2
Lierman Set 4 cards and activated Card of Demise to draw 3! He Set another one, Tributed it to Tribute Summon Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior, and discarded Dark Ruler No More.
Baloch Normal Summoned Gouki Suprex and activated its effect but Lierman chained The Monarchs Erupt to negate the effect. He Set one and passed.
Lierman had Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior attack over Suprex, whose effect added Gouki Octostretch from his Deck to his hand.
Baloch Set a monster and passed.
Lierman activated Card of Demise to draw 2 cards! he Tributed a Set Skill Drain to Summon Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter. Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter attacked over Gouki Twistcobra whose effect let Baloch add Gouki Re-Match from his Deck to his hand.
Baloch activated Gouki Re-Match and Lierman activated There Can Be Only One after the chain resolved so that Lierman was forced to send one of Summoned monsters to the Graveyard. Baloch opted to concede and we’re quickly moving to a third and final Duel!
Duel 3
Baloch elected for Lierman to go first. Lierman started off with 2 Set cards, activating Disciples of the True Dracophoenix and True Draco Heritage, Tributed Disciples of the True Dracophoenix to Tribute Summon Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. He drew a card with True Draco Heritage’s effect, Set it and passed.
Baloch went to the Battle Phase and at the end of the Battle Phase Baloch activated Evenly Matched! Lierman used Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior’s effect to add True Draco Heritage form his Deck to his hand. He kept a Set There Can Be Only One on the field, but Baloch activated Twin Twisters to blow it away! Baloch then activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones which was activated to make a Token, then he Normal Summoned Gouki Headbatt and used those monsters to Link Summon Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights which added Gouki Riscorpio. (Baloch also added another Gouki monster with Headbatt’s effect). He also used Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effect to send Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade to Special Summon Gouki Octostretch from the Deck. Both monsters turned into a Knightmare Cerberus, then Baloch used Gouki Re-Match to bring back Gouki Headbatt and Gouki Riscorpio. Cerberus turned into Knightmare Mermaid which brought our Orcust Knightmare, which turned into Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. Galatea and the 2 Gouki monsters turned into Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess! Orcust Cymbal Skeleton brought back a Galatea, Galatea turned into a Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star, Baloch Set a card to the back and passed.
Lierman Set Crackdown, activated True Draco Heritage and passed. In the End Phase, Baloch activated Cosmic Cyclone to banish the Set Crackdown.
Baloch brought back the Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade, banishing Gouki Riscorpio and Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights from the Graveyard. He did some quick math, then banished Orcust Crescendo from his Graveyard to add Orcust Harp Horror from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Orcust Harp Horror, then sent Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star and Orcust Harp Horror to the Graveyard to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, then used Orcust Harp Horror to Special Summon Orcust Knightmare. All 3 monsters were used to Link Summon Borrelsword Dragon. He used the Orcust Cymbal Skeleton in the Graveyard to bring back Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star and 3 attacks later and we have a Dragon Duel Champion!
