YCS Ft. Worth: Dragon Duel Playoff Feature Match – Jason James vs. Kenta Lee
This Dragon Duel playoff pits two friends against each other. Kansas Duelist Jason James is playing Crusadia Orcust (with a splash of Sky Striker?!). He’s facing Texas Duelist Kenta Lee, playing Sky Strikers. The winner of this Duel earns a set of the Darklord Prize Cards and the title of YCS Ft. Worth Dragon Duel Champion!
Duel 1
Lee won the dice roll and chose to play first. He had Sky Striker Maneuver – Jamming Waves!, Solemn Judgment, Pot of Desires, and a pair of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He used Desires to draw Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!. A lot of reactive cards, but nothing to get his own gameplan going. He Set Judgment and Jamming Waves.
James played Crusadia Leonis and Link Summoned Crusadia Magius, losing it to Solemn Judgment.
Lee drew Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor. He flipped Jamming Waves to destroy James’s Set Widow Anchor. He Set his own Anchor.
James played another Leonis into Magius, then Special Summoned Crusadia Draco. He added Crusadia Arboria to his hand. He used Draco and Magius to play Knightmare Phoenix, discarding Orcust Knightmare to destroy Widow Anchor. James used Phoenix to play Knightmare Mermaid, discarding Arboria for Mermaid’s effect, and Lee destroyed the Mermaid with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. Mermaid’s effect resolved and Special Summoned Orcust Knightmare. James then banished the Orcust Knightmare from his Graveyard, and Lee used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it.
Lee drew and Set Widow Anchor.
James played Leonis, using it with Orcust Knightmare for Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. He Special Summoned Crusadia Reclusia, Lee flipped Widow Anchor, and James had Orcust Crescendo! He Special Summoned Crusadia Maximus, then played Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator. He used Orcust Knightmare, sending Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to the Graveyard, which Special Summoned Galatea. He used Galatea to play Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star. Since Lee had halved his Life Points with Solemn Judgment, James was able to finish him off!
Duel 2
James would play first this time. He played Arboria into Magius, then Special Summoned Draco to add Maximus to his hand. Draco and Magius were used for Knightmare Phoenix, Phoenix was used for Mermaid. He discarded Harp Horror for its effect, and Lee used Infinite Impermanence to negate the Mermaid. James Special Summoned Arboria, used it and Mermaid for Regulex, then Special Summoned Maximus. Regulex’s effect added Crusadia Testament to his hand. Harp Horror’s effect Special Summoned Cymbal Skeleton, and he used it with Maximus for Galatea. Galatea Set Orcust Crescendo on the field. He then used Galatea and Regulex for Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator.
Lee had Pot of Desires, Reinforcement of the Army, Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole, and World Dino Wrestling. He drew Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!. He started with Multirole and World Dino Wrestling, using Multirole to send the Field Spell to the Graveyard. He banished Wrestling to Special Summon Dinowrestler Pankratops. He played Reinforcement of the Army to add Sky Striker Ace – Raye to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, sending Pankratops to destroy Longirsu in battle, then Raye attacked directly. He used Raye’s effect to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate, attacking with it as well. Hayate sent Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to the Graveyard. In Main Phase 2, he used Pankratops to destroy the Set Crescendo, and James lamented not using it earlier to negate Multirole. James banished Crescendo to add Harp Horror to his hand. Lee played Pot of Desires, drawing Jamming Waves and Pankratops. He used Hayate to Link Summon Kagari, adding Engage to his hand. He played Engage to add Widow Anchor to his hand. He then used Kagari to play Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. In the End Phase, Shizuku added Widow Anchor to his hand. Still in the End Phase, he wanted to get Widow Anchor on the field, so he used it to negate his own Shizuku. Then Multirole Set the Widow Anchor on the field.
James Normal Summoned Draco to where Lee’s Shizuku pointed, adding Maximus to his hand. He then Tributed Shizuku, handing over Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju! He used Draco to play Magius, then Special Summoned Maximus. Magius’s effect added Crusadia Reclusia to his hand. He Normal Summoned Harp Horror, using it with Magius to play Regulex. He Special Summoned Reclusia, with its effect targeting itself and Lee’s Set Widow Anchor, then used Crusadia Power to keep Reclusia on the field. Regulex added Crusadia Revival to his hand. He used both monsters to play Crusadia Equimax, pointing to Maximus. He banished Cymbal Skeleton to Special Summon Galatea, shuffling Cymbal Skeleton back into his Deck, then Special Summoned the Cymbal with Harp Horror. He used Galatea to play Dingirsu. He then used Maximus’s effect on Equimax! He moved to the Battle Phase, swinging in for 11,600 damage with Equimax!
