It all comes down to this! 2396 Duelists competed in YCS Philadelphia and only two remain! Denis Nadas and Calvin Tahan faced off only once before in their lives, and it was in the Top 4 of YCS Chicago back in 2019. Nadas won that Match and eliminated Tahan from the tournament, but lost in the Finals and missed out on his chance at a YCS Championship trophy. Now, Nadas and Tahan are paired against one another once again – but this time, the stakes are even higher because both of these Duelists are in the Finals! A victory here will give one of these Duelists a championship trophy and an Ultra Rare Anotherverse Dragon Prize Card, while the other Duelist ends his tournament run with a second-place finish. For the last time this weekend, it’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Nadas won the die roll but chose to go second!

Tahan Set a card to his back row and passed his first turn.

Nadas drew Kashtira Big Bang and added it to his hand of Kashtira Riseheart, Book of Moon, Kashtiratheosis, Pot of Extravagance, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

He activated Pot of Extravagance by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down and then excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck. He added Kashtira Unicorn to his hand and returned the other 5 cards to the bottom of his Deck. Next, he Special Summoned the Unicorn. He activated its effect to add Kashtira Birth to his hand and then activated Kashtiratheosis by targeting the Unicorn. Nadas Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir from his Deck and used its effect to add Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He combined Unicorn with Fenrir to Xyz Summon Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation and detached Unicorn from it to destroy Tahan’s face-down Kashtiratheosis and banish Unicorn from his Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Scareclaw Kashtira and banished the Kashtiratheosis, using Kashtiratheosis’s effect to add a banished Unicorn to his hand. He Special Summoned Riseheart from his hand next and used its effect by banishing Fenrir from his Deck. Tahan banished the top 3 cards of his Deck face-down and Riseheart’s Level increased to 7. Next, Nadas combined his Riseheart and Scareclaw to Xyz Summon Kashtira Shangri-Ira in Attack Position. He Normal Summoned Unicorn from his hand and then attacked directly with Unicorn. He banished Number 11: Big Eye from Tahan’s Extra Deck face-down with the Unicorn’s effect and inflicted 1250 points of damage to Tahan with the attack. Shangri-Ira attacked for 0 points of damage next. In Main Phase 2, Nadas Xyz Summoned Kashtira Arise-Heart and Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder. Nadas Set 2 cards to his back row and then when Nadas tried to leave his Main Phase, Tahan activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! All of Nadas’s monsters were replaced with an Attack Position Primal Being Token with 8500 ATK and 8100 DEF. Nadas continued his Main Phase by Special Summoning Fenrir with the effect of Kashtira Birth and then ended his turn.

Tahan attacked into Nadas’s Attack Position Token with his Nibiru to destroy his own Nibiru by battle. He lost 5500 Life Points and dropped down to 1250 Life Points. With his field cleared, he Special Summoned Fenrir in Main Phase 2, prompting Nadas to flip Book of Moon to put it face-down. Tahan Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Nadas drew another Birth and then used his Fenrir’s effect to add Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Unicorn and used its effect to add Kashtiratheosis to his hand. Next, he combined Unicorn with Fenrir to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye and activated its effect to take control of the face-down Fenrir. Nadas Flip Summoned the Fenrir and attacked directly with the Primal Being Token! Tahan took 8500 points of damage from the attack and was knocked out of the Duel!

Duel Two

Nadas opened up Duel 2 with Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, Pot of Prosperity, Enemy Controller, Harpie’s Feather Duster, and Scareclaw Kashtira. He activated Wraitsoth and used its effect to add Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Special Summoned it and then used its effect to add Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He activated it to Special Summon Fenrir and then used Fenrir’s effect to add Kashtira Riseheart to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned the Riseheart and activated its effect by banishing Kashtira Birth from his Deck. He banished the top 3 cards of Tahan’s Deck face-down and Riseheart’s Level increased to 7. Next, he activated Pot of Prosperity. He banished 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down and excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck: Wraitsoth, Enemy Controller, Fenrir, Unicorn, Nibiru, and Triple Tactics Talents. He added the Enemy Controller to his hand and then Special Summoned Scareclaw Kashtira from his hand. He banished Kashtiratheosis and used the effect of Kashtiratheosis to return his banished Birth to his hand. He Set both copies of Enemy Controller face-down and then ended his turn.

Tahan Special Summoned Kashtira Unicorn. He activated its effect to add Kashtira Birth to his hand and Nadas declined to activate any effects. Tahan activated the Birth and then Normal Summoned Fenrir. Nadas flipped Enemy Controller and Tributed Riseheart to take control of Fenrir until the end of the turn. In the Battle Phase, Tahan attacked the Fenrir that Nadas took control of, and Nadas flipped another Enemy Controller! He Tributed Scareclaw Kashtira to take control of the Unicorn until the End Phase. In Main Phase 2, Tahan Special Summoned Fenrir and used its effect to add Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He ended his turn and then control of the Unicorn and Fenrir returned to him.

Nadas switched his Fenrir into Attack Position and then activated Harpie’s Feather Duster to destroy Kashtira Birth. Next, he activated a Birth of his own and used it to Special Summon Scareclaw Kashtira. He attacked and destroyed Tahan’s Fenrir with his Unicorn and then attacked Tahan’s second Fenrir with his own Fenrir. Nadas used the effect of his Fenrir on the attack declaration to banish Tahan’s Fenrir face-down and then redirected the attack to Tahan’s Unicorn, destroying it in battle (with some help from his face-up Wraitsoth). Scareclaw Kashtira attacked directly next, dropping Tahan down to 4800 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Nadas used the effect of his Fenrir to add a Unicorn to his hand. Next, he used the effect of his Unicorn to add Kashtira Birth to his hand.

Tahan Special Summoned Kashtira Unicorn and activated its effect to add Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He activated the Kashtiratheosis targeting his Unicorn and Nadas contemplated using the effect of the Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in his hand but ultimately decided against it. Tahan Special Summoned Fenrir from his Deck and then Nadas used the effect of his Kashtira Birth to banish 3 cards from Tahan’s Graveyard face-down. Tahan combined his Fenrir with his Unicorn to Xyz Summon Diablosis and then attacked Fenrir. Fenrir was destroyed, and Nadas lost 100 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Tahan Xyz Summoned Zeus with 3 Xyz Materials over the Diablosis. In his own End Phase, he used Zeus’s effect to clear the field.

Nadas drew a Kashtira Unicorn and Special Summoned it. He activated its effect to add a Kashtiratheosis to his hand and then activated Kashtira Birth. Tahan Chained the effect of the Scareclaw Kashtira in his hand to Special Summon it and banish a Unicorn from his Graveyard. Nadas used the effect of his Unicorn to banish a Zeus from Tahan’s Extra Deck face-down. Next, Nadas activated Kashtiratheosis, but Tahan stopped it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Nadas used the effect of Birth to Special Summon Fenrir and then Normal Summoned a Unicorn from his hand. He combined the Unicorns to Xyz Summon Big Eye and then took control of Zeus. He attacked Scareclaw Kashtira with Fenrir and Fenrir’s effect was negated by the Scareclaw Kashtira so Nadas lost Life Points in the exchange and nothing was banished or destroyed! Zeus attacked and destroyed Tahan’s Scareclaw Kashtira next.

Tahan Special Summoned a Unicorn from his hand and then activated Kashtira Birth. Nadas used the effect of his Birth to banish 3 cards from Tahan’s Graveyard face-down, and then Tahan used the effect of his Birth to banish 3 cards from Nadas’s Graveyard face-down. Next, Tahan used the effect of his Birth to Special Summon a banished Unicorn to his field. He combined his Unicorns to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye and then attacked Fenrir with Big Eye to destroy it. Zeus’s effect activated, allowing Nadas to attach Nibiru from his Deck to Zeus as an Xyz Material. Nadas promptly activated the effect of Zeus by detaching both Xyz Materials from it and sent all cards on the field to the Graveyard!

Nadas drew a Triple Tactics Talents and then attacked directly with Zeus, dropping Tahan down to 1800 life Points.

Tahan drew a card and then revealed his hand in concession. He was holding two copies of Nibiru and had no plays that he could make.
